“Beautiful Country”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

Lovely hotel set in Pine Forest on edge of coastline. 3 storeys high with lift. Staff spoke English which was a great help. The hotel is not "repped" but you are left an emergency contact number and a number for the Rep and the staff will phone for you if you want to book trips - though we had to book at Kompas in Umag itself as Rep unable to do it. We booked for Postojnska and Lipicia and were really looking forward to it BUT no bus turned up for us and on investigation we had to go back into the Kompas Office in UMAG to be told that there had been a "computer failure" and the booking had not gone through - of course they hadn't taken our names/hotel which is why we never found out unti the day - very disappointing since we were only there for week and couldn't go again - and too far to try going on public transport - considering you are crossing the broder into Slovenia.
Food good in hotel - good variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner - like a huge canteen. All inclusive drink is local variety - tastes different! - but wine lovely! Rooms nicely decorated - you have a fridge which is great to keep water cold - TV but no British channels i.e. news, which is great if you want to get away from it all! Entertainment during the day includes stretching/pilates/water aerobics. Entertainment at night was quite good - tribute bands/dancing/singing - and there's an hour of entertainment for children, which is entertaining for the adults without children!
The hotel has a policy that you are not allowed to wash your "smalls" and hang them in the bathroom!!
The hotel is about 45mins walk into Umag. You can get the "train" for 15 Kuna single into Umag - takes about 15 minutes - lovely to see other hotels/bits of the countryside. Umag is quite small but beautiful. Make sure you explore the back streets and you will find the most beautiful restaurants looking out onto the sea - beautiful.
Local bus station about 10mins walk from main street - buses good but timetable limited - we did get to Novigrad, Porec and Rovinj - all beautiful and recommend a visit to these places.

Room Tip: If you want a sea view you have to pay a bit extra - ask for rooms facing side or back to hotel, tha...

I am delighted with the hotel! All at the highest level! That's right the right staff, excellent service, delicious food. Very convenient system "all inclusive". The hotel is located in a fabulous location. If you want to visit Croatia, choose a hotel "Sol Aurora".

“Friendly staff and excellent facilities”

We were very impressed with this hotel - our first time at a Sol property. The Animation Team were really friendly and enthusiastic - we did Pilates with Micheala every morning. She knows her stuff! Even our 'cool' 12year old daughter enjoyed the Kids' Club - they catered well for all the different ages and our 10 year old son particularly enjoyed getting the 'Ninja warpaint' on for the water balloon raids on the sister hotel round the corner! The buffet food was excellent - great variety and taste. The evening shows were a mix of professional 'visiting' shows and those put on by the Animation Team themselves - very enjoyable. The hotel is set in lovely grounds right beside the sea. We had asked for a family room for 4 but were given one for 6 which meant the kids got their own room and didn't have to sleep on the sofa! There were two balconies - one from our room and one from the lounge - both overlooking the sea.
The only things that I could fault where the lack of free WiFi (you have to pay to use this in the lobby) and the need to be up at the crack of dawn to get your towels on sunbeds by the pool! But this made us get up and go for a gentle jog/walk each day - there is a scenic path taking you into Umag past other hotels, marinas and villas. Very enjoyable before the heat of the day gets too much.

It is great to hear that you enjoyed your vacation here at Hotel Sol Aurora. We try to satisfy all of our guests' wishes, and it is our great pleasure to hear that the apartment for 6 was at your comfort. The evening programs are a mix of shows performed by professionals and the animation team because we wish to offer our guests shows that are diverse and entertaining. Unfortunately, the WiFi is not free of charge but we are working on that matter. Moreover, we can put only as many sunbeds on the pool as the space around the pool allows us. That is why we have plenty of sunbeds at the beach.
Once again, thank you for your comments, we hope to see you again very soon.

“Good hotel but some stuff was extremely rude”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

Stayed there for 2 weeks from middle August till beginning of September, 2010. Quite good hotel with good food and entertainment. Not a very good beach but I think, it's a usual thing for Croatia. Overall, I enjoyed the holiday. I could rate the hotel 4 stars but unfortunately, some stuff at the restaurant was extremely rude though I was a client and actually didn't do anything that could cause such reaction. May be it happened because I'm a Russian? Very very disappointed.
