“Gus does Medulin”

This is a great hotel in a beautiful location. The hotel is spotless the room was nice, a bit small and old fashioned but had everything that we needed. Cleaned every day with fresh bedlinen and towels. Staff couldn't do enough for you, very pleasant and helpful, particularly the restaurant staff. Food was good, a bit more variety would have been welcomed. Wine and beer included was rather nice! We were there at the same time as Susan O and I agree that this is the latest that we would want to go as local bars and shops were closing down. I also agree that the trips were expensive. We went to Venice which was a lovely trip but we were given no instructions on where to get the bus back. We assumed, wrongly that we would be picked up at the same place as we were dropped off. In fact we were to make our way to the bus station, we found this out just in time to do a half mile sprint and get the bus just as it was about to leave for the 45 minute trip back to Medulin. Top tip, if you go to Venice you get the bus back from the bus station, you may not be told this and the bus won't wait. We also went to Lake Bled, again a lovely trip, expensive mind, not really worth the money. We dressed for a nice sunny day, with a cardi packed in anticipation of a drop in temperature. Every other traveller got on the bus dressed in woollies, boots, coats. They had all been contacted by their rep because the weather forecast was exceptionally bad. We were freezing, absolutely soaked and cold, spoilt the day, especially when the man who rows you to the island turned up in a black all in one weatherproof outfit. he looked like the grim reaper and we were so cold that we wouldn't have been surprised to meet him. Top Tip, wear something warm to go to Lake Bled. We went on a " Melissa" boat trip from Pula, booked at the local tourist info, Globus. It was brilliant, the best trip. I recommend that. Also the trips from the harbour to the nearby islands are great. Hire a bike! It's flat and you can go to places inaccessible by car.

The beach is lovely, did some nice snorkelling, you need shoes though as the beach is quite stony. They sell suitable shoes for a few pounds so don't worry if you haven't got any. We met lovely people and had a wonderful holiday, I don't usually return to the same destination but I would certainly go back to Hotel Medulin.

Room Tip: It's worth paying extra for a sea view

“Fantastic Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

Great location, food great, staff friendly, lovely pool, although a salt pool, which I prefer. Beer, wine available at evening meal, as much as you want, which was a bonus. Would not visit during school holidays as there is a large campsite nearby, and I would imagine Medulin to be a very busy place. We visited 13th Sept for two weeks, during our second week, a lot of shops and bars were closing for the season, so would not visit later than these dates unless you want a really quite holiday. One thing with hotel, no pool towels provided, so take your own, buy out there or you can hire from reception at a cost of 10 kuna, you can keep the towel for as many days as you want, but if you want a clean one it will cost another 10 kuna. Another point about Croatia you can drink the tap water, which we did, and we were fine. Thought Thomson trips were pretty expensive, and was not happy with the ones we took, Best of Istria and Venice, not good value for money, think Thomson need to look into that. On the whole the cost of everything was on a par with UK. Pula is a lovely city which you can go by bus outside of the hotel. Duty free at the airport coming home was good, everything in Euro's though. I would recommend the Hotel Medulin, four star, and would certainly go back, Music every evening, which did stop at 10, which I did'nt mind, no noise at night which made for good sleeping. It was a great holiday, weather was brilliant too.

Room Tip: Go for sea view, extra, but worth it, other rooms overlooking car park

“Stay somewhere else”

Carry your own bags from the car while the front staff take a break.
The food is ok but mainly caters for the German guests, the phone in the bedroom didn't work, air conditioning works when it likes, rooms where clean and views over the pool where good.
Ask for rooms away from the dinning area as it doubles at night for entertainment with singers that Eurovision would baulk at!!!!!!
The lifts are so small the luggage trolley and a jockey cannot fit together.
On check out I asked for help with the luggage and was told to help myself with the trolly
This is deffiently not a four star hotel two at the best

Room Tip: Too far from Pula other option are better

“A relaxing holiday in a great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Have just returned from a ten day stay and can honestly say i have no complaints.
The hotel is clean and well looked after, the staff are friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them.
The rooms are a reasonable size and the bathroom was clean and had a powerful shower with hot water always available.
Food was ok, lots of choice if not a little bland, but i think this is normal of Croatian cuisine.
Hotel is well situated and just a short walk to the local shops, beach is a stroll through the gardens.
All in all a great place to stay in a lovely unspoilt part of the world.

Room Tip: Worth having a sea view as garden view can overlook the car park.

“Little things make a difference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

Agree with what has been said in the reviews re this hotel. Small things missing, like no public telephone in the hotel, plus the hotel not selling phone cards as in most Spanish hotels. The food, although great, was mainly for the large German/Austrian guests. A large dish of mushrooms one evening, and when I told the manager we would like them on the English menu for breakfast , he looked surprised. The bacon was unedible, all fatty and greasy. Some type of beans, but they were not heinz types, so breakfast for the Brits could be improved. Massive bed, and well designed furniture, plenty of room space. Did complain about loose toilet seat, it was never repaired though. But great hotel, location not so.

Room Tip: Request sea view
