“Overall great place to stay at a great price”

Stayed here in January and had a great time. Location was great - close to the ski bus stop, central to the bars, near to the spar (which is great for picking up a EUR 1.80 sandwich for the slopes). Our room had an amazing view of the mountains, rooms were clean and warm. Quite basic, but we made do and didnt spend much time in there anyway. Beds were amazing, big and comfortable. Cleaners do a great job and every day did something different with the duvet! We went as a couple so for meals were sat with another 4 people and this added to our holiday as we had loads of fun. This is great if you go as a couple or a small group. There is a bar down stairs too so you can carry on meal time drinks without having to go outside. Food was traditional Austrian, 4 courses, mostly very nice and sometimes random! This is a sit down meal rather than a buffet, so every night you have to be seated by 6.30/7 which can interfere with your apres ski.It just means that you have to leave by 6.30! If you did want to have a night where you skip it you could just tell them in the morning. There is a ski room, but it is not possible to lock your snowboard / skis to anything although the room is locked. The price lower compared to prices for other places and we were a little worried but it turned out well. All in all, we had a great time here and didnt want to come home!

“Good Budget Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We stayed here from 7th January to 14th and this was our seventh time in Soll but first time at this hotel. Have used the pub area often and knew the rooms had been re-furbished. The price was right and the reviews seemed okay.
First of all the best thing about this hotel is the locality - it is walking distance to anywhere you need to go in the village and that is certainly a plus point, other plus points of this hotel is the lovely warm rooms, comfortable beds and good showers. The cleaners do a great job and the room is always nice to come back to at night with fresh towels if you need them and nothing to much trouble for them.

The food is okay with a bit of variety. No cooked breakfast - only hard boiled eggs but plenty of ham, cheese and spreads. Adequate enough.

Downside of this hotel - if you are into the apres ski (which we were) it is cut short by the fact you have to be seated in the dining room between 6.30-7pm - which is maybe a good point but for us the party was just getting started.

The rooms are nowhere near as big as the ones they show on the internet, infact they are quite small in comparison to others we have stayed in although as I said they are kept very tidy and clean.

I would advise to bring a torch as the lights in the bedroom are very dim and if you are looking for something it could take a while.

Not many coat hangers in the wardrobe

No mirror in the room - only in the bathroom

I do not advise using the hotel hairdryer unless you have an hour to spare - very slow.

Our room looked out onto the main street and because there had been a lot of snow, every morning at around 5.30/6am a tractor cleared the roads for hours and the noise was so bad you might aswell have been sleeping in the middle of the central reservation of the motorway! This has to be the biggest downside is the noise - also you can hear the church bells ringing every morning at 6.45am - if you are not awake by everything else then you will certainly be awake by the time these go of. By the middle of the week I left the television on low to drown out the noise from outside because it was pretty bad and this is with the balcony windows closed. Ear plugs may be the answer.

The restaurant was nice but the service although very pleasant is not always with a smile! The service was very swift to the point you hardly finish one course and the next is there, the food was good and adequate enough.

Breakfast can be a bit manic when everyone arrives at the same time as there is only one 2 slice toaster for the whole restaurant!

This might seem like a lot of moaning but I think it is important to let people know what I thought, all in all apart from all that I did enjoy the stay, it was a good value hotel - close to all amenities but the noise factor definately let it down.

“Friendly and Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Just got back from Hotel Austria in Soll as a group of six(21st Jan'12).Good Town centre location, ski bus stop 75-100 yards away although twice it stopped to pick us up outside hotel.
Apres bars short walk/stumble away.
Church bells are a bit noisey in the morning if you are staying on that side of the hotel.
Had to wait for check in as we arrived early at 11.00 am but that was soon sorted out, room was good size, very clean and had balcony.Shower in bath bit cramped and towels quite small.Room was keep clean and tidy all week.
Breakfast buffet style with only hot hard boiled eggs,no bacon etc,but good selection of cold meats, cheese, yogurts, cereal etc continental style.Plenty of tea and coffee,Orange juice watered down/squash?
Evening meal served on time and staff did not complain if a little late. varied selection all week, good but not exceptional.
Hotel staff seemed friendly enough considering we hammered the Apres Ski hard all week.
Hotel bar bit smokey but they have no indoor smoking bans like us Brits.
Not a 5* Hotel but a great value(we late booked),clean, tidy, friendly 3* Hotel which made you feel welcome and I would certainly return.Great for groups.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms on the church side if you are a light sleeper.

“Fantastic Xmas holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Just returned from our Christmas holiday in the Hotel Tyrol in Soll - arrived Christmas Eve morning to a very warm welcome from Joseph and his staff. Every member of staff in the hotel couldnt do enough for us - very helpful and polite.
We have travelled all over Europe over the last 15 years and this was up there with the best for food and accommodation. Xmas gala dinner - 7 courses, wonderful food - the standard of which continued all week.
The hotel is a 5-10 minutes stroll into the town - which was no problem. Ski bus stops outside the hotel and takes you up to the lift station and ski school - again no problem. Only downside, the buses can be rather full on your return from the slopes.
Just got home and already looking to go back next year.

“4* hotel in all aspects except room 101 which is inferior to the annex which is only rated as 3*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

The hotel food was excellent and caters well for vegetarians. The Hotel position in the village of Soll is excellent and there are first class walks within the valley directly from the hotel. The free Kaiser bus stop is just minutes away and allows access to other villages and more fine walks. The hotel bar allows smoking which many Brits find unacceptable and is the reason why very few people were ever in it in the evening during our visit. The only complaint about this hotel was the room we were allocated. We paid a supplement of £84 to be upgraded from the annex to the main hotel. We were allocated room 101. This room should be a single room as it is set back from the corridor and the doors of the other rooms by one and a half metres to allow for the access door to the Chef's accommodation. This results in a much smaller room than other doubles and has the smallest shower room imaginable. This room has no storage drawers just a small wardrobe and the cupboard that used to house a mini bar. The room contained a small round table and a single soft armchair. Other rooms had the table and two soft chairs and a settee. To watch the TV the hard backed dressing table chair had to be used. The balcony also directly overlooks the top of the Chef's accommodation outside staircase and patio which had constant foot traffic during our stay, which limited our privacy. We viewed the accommodation of some other guests who choose not to pay the supplement and they had a far superior room which was very large with a very large bathroom. My advice is stay in the annex and do not pay the supplement. We also had our final day spoilt when there was major building work being carried out in the Chef's accommodation next door to our room. We had banging, sawing and drilling from 8.00am to 6.00pm during the times we were in our room.

Room Tip: Do not accept room 101 as it has a minute bathroom and is substardard in size and furniture compared...
