A very, very impressive place, the hotel is in the heart of the village looking up the valley and is maintained beautifully. Flowers were everywhere, lovely gardens and a terrace to sit on outside the dining room. The hotel was absolutely spotless, the decor quite stunning. In August it was very quiet as it seems to be busiest in winter as a skier’s hotel. Reception was very warm and welcoming, staff introduced themselves, there was someone to take in your luggage and park your car for you in a private underground car park nearby.
Our room, on the third floor had a balcony and overlooked the village looking up the valley with stupendous views. A lovely big, clean, well furnished room with a large seating area, it had a luxurious bathroom with a big bath and separate walk-in shower and WC. Masses of storage space was a benefit too and the bed comfortable, being two singles tied together. The separate duvets might be seen as a disadvantage by some as they fall off the bed rather easily if you are a restless sleeper. A turn down service is provided and you want for nothing in well-priced luxury.
The dining experience promises to be good and the gourmet experience was interesting and very attractive. The menu was even rated in terms of the dishes that were healthiest. The wine list was very extensive, with lots of very good Austrian wines, the menu has recommended wines too which is useful if you are not familiar with local wines. Breakfast was quite superb and there are delicious snacks available free of charge at certain tim,es of the day for hotel guests. Service was friendly and very attentive. Pre-dinner drinks were served in the large bar area which was very attractively and imaginatively furnished and decorated.
The hotel literature and web site gives the impression of refined luxury, with dining in quite a formal setting with suits and neckties, however there is actually no dress code for the restaurant. Also at dinner if you want a quiet dining area with no children, you may need to ask for it. We had a disappointing first evening at dinner because of this, as we were two adults surrounded by three families with very young children one of whom behaved very badly. After that we were moved to a delightful private little restaurant area and everything was excellent. Nadine looked after us and nothing was too much trouble.
My partner made use of the wellness facilities which she found simply the best she has ever experienced. We did not use the pool, but had a look at it and it seemed very impressive too. Our departure was marked with a small gift of appreciation.
This hotel is as close to perfection as you can get, it is very highly recommended with impeccable but friendly service. Staff and management are to be congratulated on such excellence.
