“A diamond in the Tirol!”

Booked a last minute deal with Crystal and have had a fantastic week. Walter and his team were lovely, made us feel like old friends. Food was tasty and filling just what you need after some great skiing in this resort. Hot and cold choices for breakfast too - the bacon was so tasty. Hotel is full of character and the hotel bar is one of the best in the resort with a lovely fire to enjoy and warm you up after the temperatures plunged to -20! We stayed in room 19 and it was lovely and warm and spacious with a bath to soak in and ease those tired legs. Can't praise this hotel highly enough it was a real find and plan to return.

“full of character”

Walter and his team are welcoming and friendly in this very old and characterful gastof. Full of dark wood, cozy corners and log fire in relaxing bar. Hope they don't modernise it and add lights and new furniture - because it would destroy its historic character which shines through. Had a large room 6 at front of hotel, so can hear outside noise from street outside, but it is a central location near the town square so has to be expected really.

The food isn't a la carte, but we didn't go on holiday for the food but for the skiing and it was perfectly edible and varied.

Easy to get train to Kitzbuhel and ski bus to satellite ski areas -Fiberbrum well worth trying. Also get free entry to the pool if stopping at the Post - fantastic stainless steel indoor and outdoor heated pool - just ask at reception for a weeks ticket.

Overall a memorable holiday in a friendly and charming Gastof.

Room Tip: If you want quiet room, ask for back of building. room vary in size.

“a real austrian feel hotel”

just returned from a wks stay in the hotel post , we booked it last minute as a part of a ski package with crystal , the hotel had just been added to their collection but as yet was not in this yrs brochure so we was taking a bit of a chance . we was pleasantly surprised with the hotel a real austrian feel hotel with very friendly and helpful staff , the place was very clean and we got room 9 which was a huge room which was warm and traditional and a nice big bath which was nice after a days skiing . we found the food basic ie bread jams cheese ,hams , boiled eggs , bacon , cereals , and several fruit juices and the main meals were very nice. we could not find a fault with this hotel and would be more than happy to return.

Room Tip: room 9 was a large room , 3 windows nice big bath

Just returned after 1 week at Post. The rooms are very spacious and freshly decorated as only opened up 3 weeks prior to stay. Walter and all the staff are excellent, pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much bother..The food was good quality but very basic but any request, such as boiled egg and toast at breakfast time was taken on board and provided the very next morning. An enjoyable stay and would recommend a stay here..would rate holiday overall average but only due to rather basic meals.

“Friendly staff but noisy hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We had a great time in St.Johann, there was loads of snow and plenty of slopes to choose from. St.Johann is lovely quiet town in great surroundings.
Hotel itself is kind of 1980s retro with some nice old furniture. Breakfast choice was ok, but no eggs on offer, friendly staff serving coffee. Dinner menu was soup of the day, choice of two mains and desert. Food wasn't bad but cheep ingredients. One night there was a tomato soup and the second main was pasta with tomato sauce. Guess what, it was just plain pasta with some soup poured over it, it made me laugh. Last night there was the same main meal as what we had three days ago. Considering the budget cook gets to spend on his meals, he's made the best of it.
If you are as unlucky as we were, you get your room facing the main street, which is mega noisy. I can sleep through almost any noise, but this was the first time I had to wear an ear plugs to get some sleep. Snow plough works the night shifts so he will drive around for a whole night with his chains on the wheels no matter what. Our room and the main hallway floor is wooden so you can hear pretty much every step around you. This hotel needs some serious soundproofing!!!
All staff was very friendly and made that extra effort to make our stay pleasant. The main manager and the owner of the place was wierd person thou.
I would love to come to St.Johann again but will choose a different place to stay in.
