“Excellent food, charming staff, shame about the traffic noise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2008

I stayed here for a week-long skiing holiday with family. The hotel is a brisk 15 minutes' walk uphill from the village but thankfully there is an excellent shuttle-bus service and you can leave your ski gear next to the main lift so it's not a big problem. My room was small and a bit 'tired' but comfortably furnished. The shower was slightly oddly-shaped and low against the wall but otherwise excellent. It overlooked the front, which is right above an arterial road leading to the next village and cars tend to ascend quite noisily because of the incline. This meant that there was a choice between little fresh air and traffic noise - which was the one major drawback. There isn't much by way of soundproofing, so when people close doors along the corridor it's audible enough to stop you getting to sleep.
The food, which was included in the package, was superb, with a huge breakfast buffet and choice of dinners every day. The staff were very friendly and courteous.
Overall, the main - indeed, the only - problem was noise: the room's location and the lack of soundproofing onto the corridor. If I were on a higher floor towards the back, I would not hesitate to return.

  • Liked — Excellent food and helpful staff
  • Disliked — Noise: lack of good soundproofing of walls and doors and traffic from road

“Friendly but a bit noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2008

My wife and I booked this hotel for a ski holiday on the basis of several good trip advisor reviews. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The rooms were clean, although the bed was rather short, the TV tiny and the furnishings were generally rather 'tired'. Our room overlooked the main road and was noisy - not helped by the fact that it was very hot, even with the radiator turned off, so that it was unbearable without occasionally leaving the window partly open. There was also a great deal of noise from guests passing through the adjacent stairs and corridor, late at night. The shower in the bathroom was at chest height on a poorly secured fitting so that it could only be used when hand-held. Two other minor irritants: the refusal of staff to serve tap water (rather than bottled 'mineral' water) with meals and the lack of any internet facilities.
We might consider staying here again - but only if we were given a room at the back of the hotel, away from the main road and the stairwell.

  • Liked — The food and the helpfulness of the staff.
  • Disliked — The noise, the lack of a usable shower, the lack of internet access.

“Great food, friendly staff but needs a bit of love”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2008

We stayed here 29 Dec 07 to 5 Jan 08. The hotel looks like it does on the site but could do with a bit of TLC. It's a bit out from St Anton but there's a courtesy bus and the driver's very friendly.

The food was the best we've ever had and we got to try things we might not have ordered in a restaurant...found out what Cordon Bleu meant and ate plenty beef, venison, salmon and veal.

A couple of negatives - the room we had was a bit shabby and was a smoking room, the pool was a cold plunge pool and not the pool advertised and the bar prices were a bit high but in line with ski resort prices in a 3 star...

Overall this is well worth the stay and St Anton has an amazing area for skiing but not as good for us boarders. The nightlife caters for everyone with Krazy Kangaru a must

  • Liked — The food!
  • Disliked — The rubbish spa area

“AMAZING HOTEL!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2007

Stayed at the hotel for a week in mid december. In short, the hotel was always clean and taken care of, (once even saw a housemaid working at 9pm at night!). The food was excellent (5 course dinner every night which was looked forward to every day!)
The staff were amazing, always friendly and willing to assist you in anyway they could.
The hotel had a very warm atmosphere with the owner personally greeting us on arrival and even driving us to the slopes for a day of skiing instead of us catching the hotel shuttle (which is available to drop you off and collect you on a phonecall to the hotel.
The hotel was overall excellent and we cannot complain in any way. I would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend anyone to stay there.
Here is an example of how committed the staff are to ensuring there is a warm home from home atmosphere. On Christmas Eve the owner of the hotel read a Christmas story to the children in the hotel before asking them to write christmas letters to Santa Claus. The staff and guests were then invited to sing Christmas Carols by the Christmas tree whilst serving warm food and chocolate!! Just simply a beutiful and picturesque hotel!

  • Liked — The location, the friendly staff, the atmosphere!
  • Disliked — Nothing

“Fantastis food and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2007

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Mooserkreuz in March 2007 and had a fantastic time. The staff were very friendly and the food was divine. The hotel itself is very typically Austrian and quite dated in decor but spotlessly clean. While we were there the weather was perfect skiiing weather., which made the holiday even more perfect. The village of St Anton is very lively - tip, spend an afternoon/evening in the 'picadilly bar'. In conclusion, we had the best skiiing holiday so far in St Anton and will be sure to go back.
