Wonderful hotel, with interesting history, bag loads of character. Appealing features include a strong sense of place and identity, nothing corporate or formulaic. Run by owner/managers and motivated, friendly, interesting staff.
Pluses are the great service levels be it front desk, bar, restaurant, housekeeping. Excellent food and wine. Great pool and spa area. Huge and very comfortable room providing great night’s sleep.
Will not appeal to those who love modern and overly designed, self conscious type places.
Had a drink at the Post one night and that is arguably ritzier, but lacked the warmth and friendliness of the Schwarzer Adler. Also had lunch on the terrace at the Alte Post and was disappointed with standard of both food and service. Would definitely return to the Schwazer Adler on basis of its own merits but also trumps the competition.
