This is our 5th visit to the Sonnschein hotel to stay for a skiing holiday. On this occasion and stayed in the New wing in a "superior type" room. The room was large with lovely views looking towards the Sonnberg on one side and out over the Marchbachjoch on the balcony side. The room is well appointed with traditional Austrian double bed, two seater sofa, table and chairs, desk, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities. Facilities include a nice swimming pool and there is a pleasant bar area where you can relax in the evening. The hotel is non-smoking, which is great.
A ski room in the basement with heated boot drying and ski storage is a available. We also used the free ski storage next to the gondola station outside O’Malleys which saved carrying skis back to the hotel each night and gave a pleasant stroll of around 8 minutes as a warm up each morning.
We were well looked after by Gill and her excellent team throughout our stay. The team did tremendously well on the Sunday of our weeks stay. Following a number of power cuts, due to the snow bringing down power-lines near Worgl, in the village throughout the day we arrived back from our days skiing expecting perhaps a reduced meal service. We were surprised that the team had managed to provide a normal service with hot food given we had a further power cut just prior to the evening meal time, candles out the team delivered on time, great atmosphere with candle-lit dining !
Food was good with hot and cold buffet breakfast and in the evening 4-course dinner with choice of main course (including vegetarian option) and salad buffet.
We plan to return again next January.
Room Tip: New wing rooms are great, can recommend those with view towards village
