“Great value with our deal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We booked about two weeks before our trip and had a great deal( approx £400) therefore we were very impressed by the Traube. The rooms are in an 'ikea' style and had a nice big modern bathroom (no bath) but a lovely hot powerful shower.
The food was great- nice selection at breakfast and salad, soup, main and dessert for dinner (have to pay for drinks but this was reasonable ie €2.90 for a glass of wine). The hotel staff were very friendly too.
The Traube is in a brilliant location, very close to a pretty square with a church, supermarket, bars and five mins from the city express gondola.

We stayed on the fourth floor so didn't hear any noise at night as some reviews state (although
I am not a particularly light sleeper!). At this height the wifi didn't seem to work although I was on a skiing hol so didn't really care...there is Internet access in the lobby anyway.
Overall- excellent...

“Basic but with Great food and Staff.”

We have just returned from a week at the "Traube". A basic but clean hotel which is situated just great from the lifts and town. The rooms are basic but very clean and quite spacious for 2. The chairs and table creaked a bit and we could have done with a chest of drawers,However the rooms were very clean and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent all week and thomas and Amamda were very chatty and made us feel welcome. would stay there again, This is our 5th trip to Zell and they have made us feel most welcome and the food was the best we have had. try this hotel its well woth the money.

Room Tip: for a room at the back and not on the main street,or with a view of the lake.

“Good location, good food, great staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Just returned from a week at the Traube, and have to firstly highly commend all of the staff there who made the stay an absolute delight.
The welcome to the hotel was helpful and warm; with time being taken to explain everything in detail. The staff speak good English so there was never a language problem.

Room was a little small and basic with no tea maker/kettle but had a very good shower which was a definite plus point. Austrian toilets are novel if you've not seen one before ;) I had no idea that rooms with a bath were available until reading Nik S's review... I recommend you request one.
The bed was comfortable and of the "Austrian twin" type, which is two single mattresses in a double frame with two separate duvets. The room was a little dated but functionally fine, although somewhere to store the suitcases out of the way would have been a nice touch.
The cleaners are up and on the go quite early so don't expect much of a lie in!
I'd also recommend turning off the radiators - one thing I didn't expect from a winter holiday was to be too hot...

Hotel facilities did not include a swimming pool, however there was a sauna available after 4pm which was delightful to unwind in after a day's skiing. The included meals were always plentiful. Breakfast included a range of cereals, meats and cheeses, with yogurt, bacon, eggs and toast - as much as you could eat. I really enjoyed the coffee and juices but I guess it's each to their own as my wife did not! Dinner consisted of a starter, main and dessert on all but the last night which was fondue bourguignonne. Always enough to eat and the food was delicious - just be careful with the fondue that you cook everything properly.
Those who were leaving before breakfast started for early flights had packed lunches made which, whilst I did not require one, looked like they were very generous.
The staff working in the restaurant and other areas are what makes this hotel so lovely; they are always happy to help and will make the effort to spend time and talk to you - and it's the little touches (like remembering you always ask for water and so from day 3 there would already be a jug on the table for you) that make the difference.

Location of the hotel was a 5 minute (8 with gear) walk to the cityXpress lift and less than 3 minutes to a number of very good bars. There's also a supermarket just around the corner should you wish to get snacks/drinks to take out for the day.

Overall can't complain aside from the smallish size of the room and the lack of a kettle; which the attitude of the staff and quality of the food more than made up for.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake view (or at least on the lake side) to avoid the bar noise from the stree...

Big thanks to all the staff at the Traube, Niki and Tom and the rest of the staff were brill, the food was exelelent and rooms were spottless we went with Ingham's and the taxi droped us of at the door, good central location ,our room was a bit noisey but we did expect worse considering its location still slept like a log due to the comfy beds 5mins walk to the cable car and two realy good bars near by The Ginhouse and Lebeltser with its keller all very positve,to be fare I must add a neg... no coffee or tea facilities in the room and our room did not have a bath but they were avalable Ingams did not inform us, and if you asked for a flask of hot water and cups there was no problem we got some coffee and milk from the super across the road..they even did a packed lunch for our trip home...very happy would stay again

Room Tip: ask for a room with a bath

“Amazing Food and Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We just returned from a week long stay at Hotel Traube over Christmas. My husband and I were very impressed with the staff and especially with the food (we were booked for half board). The room was small but clean, quite, and had a wonderful hot shower (room 202). The breakfast was filling with eggs and bacon provided every morning along with breads, cereals, yoghurt, meats, and cheeses. The coffee is fantastic! We would often make little sandwiches to take for snacks while on the mountain. The dinners are really great and perfect after a long day on the slopes. There is a salad bar every night and either a starter or a fabulous soup along with a main and a desert. The wait staff is friendly and always tries to remember your order. The hotel bar is really great and has some of the best Gluevine (mulled wine) I have ever had!

My only con about this hotel is that if you go with the half board option the dinner on the last night is a traditional Austrian meat fondue that you cook yourself at the table. Although the experience was fun and the salad bar is still available you don't receive the starter/soup you do on all other nights and the only side to go with the chunks of meat you cook are a bowl of chips. There are no sauces to go with the meat which isn't seasoned in anyway. The desert is just sorbet. It just isn't enough food after a day on the slopes. I would either skip it all together or be prepared to go out for some nibbles after.

All in all a great little hotel with filling meals in a central location!

Room Tip: We had room 202
