Just returned from a week at the Traube, and have to firstly highly commend all of the staff there who made the stay an absolute delight.
The welcome to the hotel was helpful and warm; with time being taken to explain everything in detail. The staff speak good English so there was never a language problem.
Room was a little small and basic with no tea maker/kettle but had a very good shower which was a definite plus point. Austrian toilets are novel if you've not seen one before ;) I had no idea that rooms with a bath were available until reading Nik S's review... I recommend you request one.
The bed was comfortable and of the "Austrian twin" type, which is two single mattresses in a double frame with two separate duvets. The room was a little dated but functionally fine, although somewhere to store the suitcases out of the way would have been a nice touch.
The cleaners are up and on the go quite early so don't expect much of a lie in!
I'd also recommend turning off the radiators - one thing I didn't expect from a winter holiday was to be too hot...
Hotel facilities did not include a swimming pool, however there was a sauna available after 4pm which was delightful to unwind in after a day's skiing. The included meals were always plentiful. Breakfast included a range of cereals, meats and cheeses, with yogurt, bacon, eggs and toast - as much as you could eat. I really enjoyed the coffee and juices but I guess it's each to their own as my wife did not! Dinner consisted of a starter, main and dessert on all but the last night which was fondue bourguignonne. Always enough to eat and the food was delicious - just be careful with the fondue that you cook everything properly.
Those who were leaving before breakfast started for early flights had packed lunches made which, whilst I did not require one, looked like they were very generous.
The staff working in the restaurant and other areas are what makes this hotel so lovely; they are always happy to help and will make the effort to spend time and talk to you - and it's the little touches (like remembering you always ask for water and so from day 3 there would already be a jug on the table for you) that make the difference.
Location of the hotel was a 5 minute (8 with gear) walk to the cityXpress lift and less than 3 minutes to a number of very good bars. There's also a supermarket just around the corner should you wish to get snacks/drinks to take out for the day.
Overall can't complain aside from the smallish size of the room and the lack of a kettle; which the attitude of the staff and quality of the food more than made up for.
Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake view (or at least on the lake side) to avoid the bar noise from the stree...
