We stayed at Der Shutthof over Thanksgiving weekend and it was a wonderful trip. The trip was arranged through Tyrolian Tours and caters to Americans. It was our first time staying at a place with half board and I was concenred that either the food would not be good or I would get sick of eating at the same place for 4 days straight. I am happy to report that the food was GREAT. The hotel even provided a real Thanksgiving meal. The hotel was clean and comfortable. It is located right next to the ski slopes in Zell Am See.

The room we stayed in was a bit noisy since it faced the street and right across the street was a bar that stayed open late. But the rooms were comfortable and we slept through the noise. You might want to request a room on the other side of the hotel. We also enjoyed the hotel bar after a long day on the slopes.

I think this hotel is a good value for your money. It is in a great location and with the half board option is very affordable.

We were there to ski, but had to ski at the Glacier on Kitzsteinhorn (http://www.kitzsteinhorn.at/) since there was no snow this time of year at Zell am See. The ski bus to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier stops right in front of the Shutthof.

First of all, I reached the hotel only by taxi since the agency that booked me the hotel told me it is in Zell Am See while actually it was in another village that is 2km from Zell Am See. My GPS did not have an updated map for the Zell Am See area, so, I had to go by taxi at least for the first time. Other than this, The positive side of this hotel is that it was styled magnificently from the inside and out with wooden flavors all over. The hotel had lots of services including Free internet Access (near the reception), swimming pool and others. Part of these services were provided in the adjacent Latini hotel. The complimentary breakfast was average. The only negative side was the room. The room was so small and the toilet was tiny. The beds were not too comfortable too. Overall, It was OK.

We arrived in Shuttdorf thinking that it was in Zell am See when it is actually 2km from the resort. This wouldn't have been a problem but Shuttdorf was very quiet and not many places to eat or drink out. But the the ski lift was very near to the hotel and the hotel was very nice, I had read a review on the hotel and the pictures didn't look good, but i think it must have been re-furbished as it is very modern, clean and comfortable now and didn't look anything like the pictures i saw on the review. But it was definitely the same hotel as they refer to the church bells which do ring and they are right outside!

My family stayed here for 4 nights on a skiing Thanksgiving holiday through Tyrolean Tours. The hotel has a nice restaurant and bar and is right in the center of town. The ski lift was a short walk away, and the equipment rental was in the hotel. Our room was nice with a balcony and good-sized bathroom. The beds were on the firm side, but that was my only complaint. The restaurant even put on a Thanksgiving dinner for the Americans on the tour, it was great! We took an evening horse-drawn carriage ride through the town it was breath-taking...the moon and the alps were beautiful. The staff were very nice and always helpful.
