“Friendly hotel, comfy beds, all inclusive great”

We've just returned from staying there for one week. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Our room didn't have any tea or coffee making facilities, which all you English will want to know about so that you can pack your travel kettles, I'm sure. The chamber maid was efficient. We had no problems with noise or anything and slept fine.
The staff are all very friendly and speak English. The hotel is very organised and menus and meals are organised in advance, so at least you can decide whether you want to eat there that evening or eat out at one of the local restaurants 10 mins away. I'm a vegetarian, and they always managed to make me something nice.
We stayed all inclusive with Thomson which I would definitely recommend, because the house wine and beer is good, and the Reps are helpful.

“A well kept secret”

We went on a ski holiday with my 27 year old daughter and friends, the staff are very helpful and food very good and plentiful. Host gave an excellent wine talk in his cellar. with tastings. Very clean and rooms spacious. Only a one minute bus ride the slopes and lots of bars to go to in the evening.

“fantastic hotel”

We were lucky enough to be offered a room in Der Waldhof when another hotel just down the road messed up our reservation. What a result. Der Waldhof hotel was everything you could want in a hotel. Comfortable rooms, great food, spacious bar area with some entertainment, fantastic staff that couldn’t do enough for you, free champagne at breakfast, heated swimming pool, free sauna etc.
The very fussy among you may not like the half mile walk up the hill after the buses stop running or the cost of soft drinks 4.80 euros for a large coke.
Other than these 2 things I would say it was perfect. I would definitely go there again.

“best ski holiday so far”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2010

i find it hard to believe that some people could fault this hotel. me and my family went during february midterm the busiest week on the slopes and had no issues what so ever throughout our stay. staff were helpful especially the female waitress and bar man. hotel supplied entertainment many tims while there with karaoke and had a band come in. the atmposhpere was great in the hotel. amenities were all superb with heated out door pool. the food served was buffet style and to a brilliant quality, different choice each night sometimes even themed ( italian night ) every night there was also a childrens choice. we were able to rent out skies and boots from the hotel which was very handy. the hotel was abnout a 12 minute walk downhill to the centre of the village, and a 1 minute walk to the bus stop to bring u to the slopes. while we were there the hotel also provided free toboganing one night with the local bus bringing you up to the top. one night we had to wait 10 minutes to get a table as the restaurant was full but this wasnt an issue. drinks in the hotel were pricy but tap water was free, also everyday after skiing the hotel provided snacks down in the bar which usually consisted of sandwiches and soup and cake for free. there was also a games room for children. not a doubt in my mind about returning back to this hotel next year. bedrooms were also very spacious with large balconies.

“There are many better 4* hotels in Zell”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2010

The hotel is very clean and the rooms refurbished in a modern almost Travel Lodge style - personally I prefer the rooms and surroundings to have a more traditional Tyrolean feel to them.
The hotel can accomodate around 200 guests, however there is only seating for about 120, thus every night there is a rush to grab a table and then the meal is always buffet style , which is unrelaxing esp. with young children and not what I expected for the money or 4*. The food was nice but not close to the standard of the Tirolerhof or Zum Hirschen in Zell. Waitress was lovely and polite, however reception staff varried according to who was on. Found reception staff unhelpful/ unknowledgable at times with bad attitude, unwelcoming and a "there's nothing I can do about it?" attitude, said with a smirk. With exception of kitchen/ bar/ waitering and cleaning staff there was no feeling of a management presence or pride in their job/hotel. Did not feel like a tight ship.
For the same sort of money the Zum Hirschen, Stadt Wien and Gruna Baum are far more charming and welcoming and although now too expensive for us the Tirolerhof is an experience worth every penny -if I had enough!
