We stayed a week at the Hollweger with our 14 month old toddler and had a fantastic stay, There is a playroom which our daughter loved and is suitable for toddlers up to teens (there is table tennis there as well as puzzles, books, ride on toys, drums.....). We had a lovely room that overlooked the garden and lake, so we had pleasant evening sitting outside. The staff were very attentive, food excellent. It is located about a 10 minute walk to the lakeside (if toddler is in pushchair), so it was well placed to get into the main town, it was also very conveniently placed for the tourist information and a supermarket (both just over the road from the hotel).

Just returned frpm a week at the Hollweger. We had room 38, a junior suite, and the view of the lake from the picture windows and the balcony was truly stunning. There is plenty to do in St Gilgen itself and around the lake - great hiking, boat trips, cycling paths etc. The pool at the Hollweger is one of the largest I have come across ina holiday hotel and sits in a spa area in the garden - a real haven of tranquility. The garden itself is large enough for plenty of sunbeds and chairs. The proximity of the Hollweger to the main road around the lake though can disrupt your peace and quiet in the garden. It was also very hot whilst we stayed and so keeping our room windows open at night was an issue because of road noise in the early morning - however I live in a rural village with little overnight noise, so for many other guests this presumably wouldn't be a problem. The food was excellent, particularly the breakfast spread. I'm vegetarian and found the choice really wonderful but my meat eating partner fund some of the evening dinner combinations a little odd at times but perhaps that's just Austrian cuisine. The service was good but I felt it lacked warmth and there was a level of over efficiency - the evening's extras bill was presented before the evening meal was finished.

This is a hotel of some quality. As with many Austrian hotels it has been run by the same family for many years and guests are made to feel very welcome here. I would certainly recommend paying for a lake view room, as well as the obvious benefit they are not affected by the traffic noise at the front of the hotel. The food is very good and there is a very nice pool to relax in at the end of the invariably busy days. If I had one criticism it would be the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, I think this would enhance the customer experience at a relatively small outlay for the business, but this is a small point and our overall opinion of the hotel is that it is a very pleasant base for a holiday in St. Gilgen. If we return to St Gilgen (which I am sure we will ) we will certainly look to stay at the Hollweger.

We had a wonderful 3 days stay in the hotel Hollweger.
The hotel is full of charm, the view on the lake is superb, and the personal is very friendly and dedicated.
We were in half pension, and the food was extremely good. A rich 4 course menu every evening, very fine food.
The swimming pool and wellness area also particularly to be stressed. A swimming pool with the view on the beautiful garden/lake, very modern, and a large offer in the wellness are (hammam, sauna, infrared cabin, etc).
We did not test the massage.
This hotel really allow you to spend a wonderful romantic and relaxing week end

The only minus would be that they have constructed a small supermaket opposite the hotel, so that some rooms have the view on the supermarket. But it is well integrated in the landscape so it is not that bad.
