“austrian fairytale”

Beautifull hotel in beautifull surroundings, austria's finest that you can get- romantic and picturesque, romantic and fun, that's st gilgen with its beautifull small hotels.
This hotel was tipically austrian and we enjoyed it so much as well as the beuatifull nature it is surrounded with.
We were on our business meeting and although they don't have classic conference rooms they do provide everything necessary for a smaller conference.
I promissed myself one day I'll be back just for pleasure and relaxation.

“poor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

The systan of the commod was broken and they kept it sealed with black tapes, but while using it used to break and required re-assimilation. When ordering meals, the boys always used to give a time estimate like half an hour or 20 mins or so, but we knew that it never works. If you are not used to typical Indian teas, then the teas will be pathetic for you.

“Beautiful location, excellent service, great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2009

We were in St.Gilgen for a friends' wedding, but also wanted to get a couple of days rest, peace and quiet. Furberg is not in St.Gilgen itself, but rather hidden on the edge of Wolfgangsee, about 15-20 minute walk away from St.Gilgen, surrounded by a beautiful forest. During the day it is an extremely pleasant walk along the shore from the town to the hotel, but after dark the path is not lit, so probably feels a lot more adventurous. Taxis in St.Gilgen are extremely hard to get at night, so just try to make sure you're back on time.

We had a minor hiccup with the late check in at Furberg and ended up standing in front of locked door in the middle of the night. However, later on this was more than compensated by the owners and worked out to be a wonderful and pleasant stay.

As already said, the location is excellent, the view of the lake you get from your window every morning is priceless, the hotel is very charming, the rooms impeccably clean and comfortable, the owners are examples of model hospitality and the service is great.
Breakfast was good, but dinner was better.

For those interested - it does have a swimming pool. It's enormous and is called Wolfgangsee. In the room you get bathrobes and beach towels provided for those who want to have a dip at the private swimming area right in front of the entrance.
You can also rent a bike free of charge but walking is better in my opinion as some sections of the path around the lake shore are closed for bicycles.

Totally recommended!

“Can't get more Austrian than this”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2009

Charming traditional flower-bedecked lakeside chalet in typical Austrian style. Smiling plump blondes in dirndl skirts and servings the size of the alps. We had a room with a glorious view over the Wolfgangsee, well equipped but in the traditional Austrian style; not particularly luxurious, just very comfortable. I could have done without the artificial plants trailing about especially as the hotel is covered in fresh flowers and has a plentiful supply of real roses outside. Hotel full of earnest Austrian walkers. A very pleasant stay.

“A Wonderful Gift”

We stayed at the Furberg for two nights, and I wish we could have stayed longer. We had a beautiful room that faced the lake with a balacony. Just lovely to sit out there and relax! The hotel is quaint, clean and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly. We didn't speak much German, and had a very friendly waiter who helped us translate the dinner menu. Food was quite good, both for dinner and breakfast. But, the location is really the best part. Although we didn't have very good weather when we were there, the grounds were nice to walk around. A great path way runs along the lake, and the ferry pulls right up to the dock at the hotel. The place is quietly tucked away in the woods, and it feels like a very private and elite spot. Would go back to Austria just to stay here again!
