I have just returned from a family holiday staying for a week at this hotel. The Sonnalp doesn't have four star fluffy towels but it does have four star friendliness from the staff. The hotel isn't modern looking but traditional and homely, the furniture is old fashioned looking but traditional in its charm The staff in the reception, bar area and dining room were all friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast is buffet style and plentiful in readiness for a day on the slopes! Dinner was five courses but healthy size courses. I am a vegetarian and I am always disappointed by the food that I have to eat in hotels but the vegetarian dishes at the Sonnalp were imaginative and really tasty.
The spa area and pool were a welcoming retreat after a day on the slopes.
The hotel has a boot room for you to store your equipment and there are piste maps available as well as the opportunity to buy your ski lift passes. The hotel is really close to the gondolas although there is a bit of a hill to walk back up to the hotel, not too long though!
Our room was up in the eaves so the ceiling was slanted which meant my husband had to bend his head when getting into bed but it just added to the charm of the room and it did look out across the mountains, so what more could you want.
