We were here on a "team-building exercise" with the company. The hotel is quite close to the lifts, the bus station and the pubs....yet up a small hill which can get very steep late in the evening.
The rooms were quite clean, but the beds....I had a single room. The bed was ca 70cm wide, I barely fit in. It gave enough space to lay the arms close next to the body. This is the main reason why I do not recommend this place, which is quite sad, it could be really good.

Some waiters were a bit tired or grumpy, while others were outright polite and helpful.
For some strange reason, the cleaning ladies left lights on during the day in the room, an experience also my colleagues made. Only one towel was given per room, which is not enough in a sports hotel.

The spa area is the reason I still gave three points instead of two. 12meter pool, sauna (although it somehow didnt get too hot), steam bath, stylish rest area, infrared, that was really nice and enjoyable. Except that the opening hours of the spa were a bit strange.

Breakfast is well-loaded, with lots of bio-food for those who need that. We ate once here a pre-ordered dinner. The starters were quite nice, while the main dish was below average.

This was my 6th stay at Sonnalp Hinterglemm, and it is always a pleasure to come back to Ute and Thomas' hospitality. This hotel has everything you could wish for, good food, exellent bar with an extensive selection covering the wishes of any bar visitor, saunas and swimming pool and not to forget the homely treatment you are receiving around the clock.
We are a gang of good friends going to Austria every year at week 5. It is a reason for why we are going back to Sonnalp year after year.

The only downside to this hotel is the uphill walk from the main road. Now onto all the positives:

- It is located just 5-10 mins walk to the nearest lift station but a little further away for the nightlife and the main street in Hinterglemm.
- Sundays you get a nice treat of a Glühwein outside the hotel
- All the hotel staff are very pleasant and nothing is too much trouble from the receptionists, restaurant staff, bar staff, manager and cleaners doing their job all with a smile on their faces throughout. They go out of their way to make sure all your needs are catered for and their English is very good for non-German speaking folk like us.
- The food on the whole is very good but some food options were a little strange.
- The snowboard/ski locker rooms are fine.

I have been going to Hinterglemm for the past 4 years and 3 times out of 4 I stayed in the Sonnalp (one year we left it too late and was fully booked).
The hotel is brilliant ,is cosy a proper mountain warm hotel..the atmosphere is very relaxed which is what I love ,the reception staff and bar staff are great and really look after you ..This year a it was a big group going and everyone said it was the best hotel and best skii holiday they have ever had..
The selection of food is very good and the selection of drinks is immense Schapps ,Wines Whisky ,Beers as well as teas coffees you name it they have it .... the bar stays open until the last customer is standing
The Hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the lifts so no buses or taxis
I would definitely recommend the Sonnalp it is a lovely place in a great Ski resort
