Stayed here with a mate for a budget snowboard holiday, and would recommend it. But there are some things worth realizing before booking here.
The Good:
-The location is great. It's a 2 minute walk to both the Penken and Ahorn lifts, so you don't have to mess about with buses unless you're going to Hintertux or somewhere else in the Ziller valley.
-It's got a nice spa area which was a surprise for a relatively budget place. It's got 3 saunas, a steam room, and these hot and cold pools for your feet which are really nice after the slopes. However, most people tend to get naked for the sauna/steam, so it's not one for the shy! For the foot treatment bit and comfy chill out area in there, you can drape yourself in a towel.
-The rooms are clean and comfortable enough. You've got a TV with lots of channels, one BBC channel and MTV are in English, the rest is German, but it's better than nothing. You've also got a balcony with chair/table etc.
-We were on half board, and the food was really quite good. Austrian food probably doesn't have the best rep in the world, but it was tasty hearty stuff. Just what you want after a day on the piste. You get a soup, salad bar, a choice of three mains and a desert. It's pretty meat orientated, didn't see fish on the menu once, but good food all the same. Breakfast was a range of eggs and bacon, plus toast/cereals/fruit/meat/cheese etc.
The Dodgy:
-This isn't necessarily a dodgy, as it depends what you're after, but the hotel is associated with two of the liveliest apres ski bars in town. One of them is set a bit apart from the hotel called Bruck 'n' Stadl, and is on from about 4pm-8pm. It's a fantastic place to pile in after the slopes for some cheesy Europop and Jagerbombs. The other place is a club in the basement of the hotel open from about 10pm-5am. Unfortunately, despite requesting a room away from this, we were put right on top of it, and kept awake most nights. You couldn't hear the club, but it was people coming/going/shrieking in the street that was the problem, particularly as the room was very hot and we had to have the balcony door open a bit in order not to suffocate. We were in room 111 for the record. So my advice would be to get as far away from this room as possible in order to have a good nights sleep.
-Beds are a double frame with twin mattresses on top. You can't move the beds apart if you're mates sharing, but equally it's not a double mattress for couples. So whilst they are comfortable, they're not ideal.
-I don't think they really cleaned the rooms properly all that often, and we didn't get fresh towels every day either. One day, I had just left the hotel, but realised I'd forgotten my gloves, so went back to the room to get them, and they had already been in and done the room in 2mins flat. All they do is straighten the duvet and leave really.
Conclusion:
It's a decent place to stay. You can certainly do far worse. But I would really try and get away from the club underneath in order to have a good nights sleep. I also wouldn't necessarily recommend this for people with children due to the nightlife activities. And don't expect miracles from the room itself. But to be honest, if you're just after a relatively budget but comfortable option, this is pretty good, particularly due to the location right near the lifts and the hearty food.
