This hotel is primarily a ski hotel. It is close to a bus stop, on the outskirts of Kaprun. The bus stop is close to the hotel, and there are 3 fields that are easily accessible. It is possilbe to ski to the hotel - however I don't think this was a marked or groomed trail, and would have been for advanced skiers. In late 2006, there will be a new lift outside the hotel directly up to the field - a huge plus for this hotel.
Rooms are okay. The bar is okay. Half-board guests have to share tables with other guests.
The real problem with this place is the buffet meal service. Breakfast was running late every day, and came out in dribs and drabs. The food, beverages, cuttlery and crockery kept running out, and there were never staff around to replace them. So inevitably, most guests were late onto the fields or to lessons each day - especially the first day when ski equipment and passes need to be paid prior to going on the mountain. Some people missed their lessons because of this, including me!
In the evenings, the same problem occured. The food came out late, and slowly, and was not replaced very quickly. They were however quick to take the food away. The food was okay. However, upon booking we were told it would not be 3 course non-buffet, with multiple dish selection for each course. There was never a selection of deserts, and always buffet meals.
If staying here, I recommend avoiding the half-board option
