“Fantastic hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We have stayed at the Orgler twice, and can't wait to go back again! The staff are incredibly friendly, the food is great, decor is traditional, and tastefully rustic! the open fire in the bar is so comfy and homely its hard to remove yourself from it after a hard day's skiing! Ignore the other reviews, the rooms are lovely for a ski resort, can't fault the place! It's a home from home!

“not a four star hotel for sure!”

We have stayed at many fine four star hotels in Austria as we ski there each year...this hotel was a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.The rooms are very tired looking but clean ...the lobby is ok but no great atmosphere anywhere. The dining room looked ok and inviting with the big log fire but the place is run by a very small staff that are so tired and exausted that there seemed to be a bad atmosphere among them .The hotel rooms are far too warm so we had to open our windows at night and the noise on the streets below was unreal...it didnt look like a party town but the drunks seemed to party all night. The food was ok the first few nights but the night of New Years GALA dinner that all changed .two many drinks consumed by the staff ...by the time dessert came along the restaurant was deserted....We paid big money for that hotel and it just went downhill after that.My sister and her husband stayed at the Orgler last year and they cant believe how rundown it has become in a year. Also there seemed to be alot of mix up with bills etc.All I can say is its back to the Edelweiss and Gurgl in Obergurgl for us next year This hotel cost a fortune and left a bad taste in our mouths.

“Highly recommended”

Comfortable room, great location and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who are extraordinarily hard working. This hotel is big enough so you can feel anonymous (if you want to) but at the same time the owner is in the restaurant most evenings keeping an eye on things so there is a very hospitable atmosphere. The lounge area is very comfortable - open fire, armchairs and wooden beams and live music on a couple of evenings during our week-long stay.

The food and service far exceeded our expectations and there were four or five course evening meals served anytime between half 6 and 10, usually with interesting local fare. I would say that the beer and spirits were reasonably priced although the wine isn't cheap.

The sauna & jacuzzi at the hotel are basic but for 20 euro each we visited the Tauern spa, which was only a mile or so away and good for floating around in a heated outdoor pool looking at the glacier that you have just been skiing on! As an aside, there is a bus every half an hour to the glacier from a stop near this hotel. The bus is very crowded in peak times although the early buses are fine.

“Beware the drinks prices”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

We just went for a drink as the Crystal Quiz night was being held here, the drinks prices were ridiculous and they charged a whopping 20% for table service...had been thinking of booking this hotel for our holiday but thankfully we booked the excellent Sonnblick just two minutes up the road

“Wonderful Hotel with Great Facilties, Food and Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

Clean, spacious room and comfy bed.
Classic Austrian/German breakfast buffet. Rolls, cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals. You can also ask for eggs and bacon.
4 Course Austrian Meals plus a good salad bar. You won't get fish n chips and burgers but you will get some intersting austrian soups / veal / pork etc.

If you want a shower rather than a bath in your room ask at reception as our room only had a bath with a handheld shower which wasn't ideal.

The hotel is close (within 5 mins walk) to everything in Kaprun, Apres ski bars, tourist information, ski hire, a supermarket, bus stops to the Klitsteinhorn and Zell am See, Mais Kogel ski lifts and even the new Tauern Spa is walkable in about 15 minutes. I definetly recommend a visit to the Tauern Spa (which is included in room rates if booked directly at the moment). If you book this hotel through crystal ski or another tour operator you may want to check if this is included in the price or not.

The hotel has its own (free to guests) jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and infrared cabin but it looks like it could do with a revamp. The steam room and sauna work fine but the jacuzzi is a bit lack luster and cold.

There was no fridge in our room but the window ledges proved very useful for chilling a beer or two.

The tv only had german channels. MTV Germany was the only channel that had some english programs on but they were not worth watching.

Zell am See is a 15 minute bus journey away (€6 for a day bus pass). The ski busses are free to use if you are in ski gear and have your ski lift pass with you.

Overall a very good place to stay, eat, drink and be merry and go skiing. We will most likely go back and take more people with us next time.
