“Great stay, super friendly, typical Austrian decor and cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

Stayed for a week in skiing-season. Room (Primel) for 2 adults and 1 child, half board.
Room was big enough, well maintained. very clean. Staff is very friendly. Everything can be arranged, just ask. We arrived after 10 PM, when the frontdoor closes, but the receptionist just waited for us, cold platter waiting in the room. Great service!. Wonderful breakfastbuffet. Didn't use the afternoon snack option, but it looked fab!. Dinner (when halfboard is booked) gets you starter, soup (ALL soups are suberb!), choice for maincourse between meat, fish or vegetarian. Lovely desserts (and I'm a dessertfreak!). All food is fresh and homecooked. No warmed over crap one sometimes find. Compliments to kitchenstaff!
it was wonderful to be able to use the indoor pool, sauna and steambath facilities after a day of rigorous ski-practise. Only thing is that Heiligenblut is not so good for beginners or average skiers. The place is wonderful, beautiful views but the pistes are for experienced skiers with no fear! But for the difficult skiing I would recommend to anyone!
Please be advised that I am a former travelagent and used to travelling and reviews.

“A super hotel in a picturesque setting”

Very friendly reception, good sized rooms with views to die for. Price includes a pass to use the cable car opposite (worth 8 Euros each time) and a pass to use the Grossglockner road (worth 28 Euros each time). Better to approach from the south (Spittal or Lienz) because if you approach from the north (Salzburg) you lose this perk. Good food at good prices- but you have to choose your evening meal when you have breakfast. However the town has no significant alternative restaurants - the only other ones being in other hotels. So you may as well eat in at a favourable price. Reception closes at 10pm but you get a front door key for later admission. No proper bar when we were there but plans were afoot to open one for winter. Nice swimming pool. Very friendly, helpful and well-informed staff - always anxious to help.

“Beauty in the Alps”

A storybook Alpine town, way up in the mountains, clear air, gorgeous views, lovely hotel. Takes a bit of driving to get there, but definitely worth it. Cablecar to top of mountain is a great way to spend a morning. The most adventurous can hike from there, but we decided to just enjoy the view. In the national park, not far at all to nature at its most scenic. Breakfast was very good, dinners in the hotel were not large portions, but nice choices and all very tasty. Staff was terrific, even brought us some insect repellent when the open windows invited mosquitos. View from the roombalcony was breathtaking.
