“Nice place to stay and conveniant to Black Hills Attractions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

We stayed here for 4 nights in June on our South Dakota adventure. The motel was nice enough, probably fairly priced for the Black Hills. The inn was conveniant to many of the Black Hills attractions we visited: Custer State Park, Wind Cave, and the Faces. The free continental breakfast was fine but not fancy. We ate at the restaurant one night for dinner. It was very good, but expensive.

The motel has some nice extras: tennis courts, and indoor pool and outdoor pool, basketball hoops, and a computer with internet access in the lobby.

The rooms are very clean and the entire complex is neat and tidy.

We enjoyed our stay!

“Lots of amenities, clean and affordable”

We visited in November so the rate was really low at $59. The room was old and the hallway was run down with beat up carpet. However, the mattress was new, firm and clean (I searched for bed bugs and didn't find any.) The room had a tiny bathroom and the sink was out in the bedroom area. Still, it was roomy and quiet. There was an indoor pool (a bit run down, with tacky plastic carpet, but it was big enough and fairly deep at 3-5 feet (too deep for young kids.) There was a German restaurant next door which was basically a steak house with spaetzle. The morning breakfast was better stocked than most, with danish, toast, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, fresh juices and even salami and cheese so you could make a sandwich for lunch. The big thing here is the value. We stayed in the middle of the Black Hills at a hotel with large rooms, a pool, attached restaurant and breakfast for less than $60. Oh yeah, and the setting was beautiful.

“Black Hills Adventure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

During a recent enjoyable trip through the Black Hills I was nearing Custer and there was the Bavarian. It looked great, probably beyond budget, but stopped in anyway. When I heard $50 for the night , I booked in immediately. Initially I was a little concerned about the double wide patio style enterance doors, but the between glass blinds worked well. The pool looked inviting but time did not allow. Also was told they have tennis courts available. A short walk up hill got me to the restuartant. Believe there was four or five specials available that night from prime rib to all you can eat fish and chips. Good thing the walk back to the hotel was down hill! While in the office, I noticed a rock protruding through the floor, believe it also went into the pool area. I give this estabalishment excellent marks!

Room Tip: Ground floor, rest unknown.

“Clean and Quite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

This is a nice place to stay. Folks were friendly. Our room was clean and comfy. While this motel is on the main road (16) to Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore, there was ZERO road noise because of the way the motel is situated on the lot. We got a super rate on our room because it was off-season. Highly recommend this place if you're up in South Dakota.

“A Gem in The Black Hills”

Upon our arrival in the area of Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore it was pouring rain and late. We had stopped at a visitor center earlier and picked up a guide. As we were searching for a place along the roads I just happened to see a small add in the book about the Bavarian Inn and it was only a few miles away. I am so glad we found it!! I am of German heritage and it was a great place to stay. Clean, comfy and very reasonable. Had the German touch! Price included breakfast - European style, rolls, lunch meats and cheese. We liked it so much we booked two nights - I loved that area and staying at the Bavarian Inn added to the highlight of the trip.

Room Tip: Room 203 - quieter - with balcony
