“Birds and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

This is an outstanding place to stay. My wife and I spent one week there and enjoyed watching the many hummingbirds that call Cielito Sur home. In fact, we saw many more birds at the B&B than we did on any of our hikes in the area.
The breakfast was buffet style with lots to choose from. Also included was a choice of two hot dishes which was freshly prepared for you. Of the 5 B&B's we stayed at throughout our travels in Panama, Cielito Sur and Patty's Casita (Panama City) were the two best places for breakfast.
The owner was available each morning to provide helpful advice and local maps to trails, attractions, and restaurants.
Our rooms were immaculate and the availability of the guests shared living room/library made our stay very comfortable in the evenings. Wi Fi and a desktop computer were also available for our use.
I know this B&B comes highly rated on this site and with good reason. I couldn't improve or suggest any improvements that would make this a better place to stay.
If you enjoy a great breakfast, birds and hiking, then this is the place for you.

“Cielito Sur B&B nestled in the cool mountains has lush grounds, comfy rooms and a great breakfast.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

Cielito Sur is a relaxing little B&B in the Volcan Mountains at 5,000 feet elevation. It's cool at night and comfortable during the day. The B&B has instant hot water,- a plus on a cold night, comfortable clean rooms decorated with artifacts from native indian tribes, small kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and sink. There is also a library with fire place and computer with internet access. The patio shared by the 4 rooms is relaxing with a view of flower gardens and many different kinds of birds. The breakfasts were delicious with coffee grown and roasted on the grounds. The proprietors, Glenn and Janet are very friendly and helpful with stories and tips about the area - they speak English and Spanish. We ate at nice restaurants, saw the orchid gardens and columbian artifcats and drove to Costa Rica to see the PN countryside. I went with 3 other girl friends & we all had a great time.

“A Find Amidst the Greenest of Nature!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

We spent two nights at the Cielito Sur and loved it. Attentive service from the hosts made the stay very worthwhile. The room was ample and spotless, and the grounds are breathtaking. Hummingbirds everywhere! The common area consists of a very cozy living room with a fireplace and features all that one could ask for during down time from visiting the national parks: Internet, books, DVDs, games, etc. Access to the town of Cerro Punta is best by local bus: they cost 50 cents and pass by the B&B`s gate every fiteen minutes or so during the daytime. Good breakfast! One of the rare accomodations with a heater in the bathroom - Cerro Punta can be quite humid and cool.

“Perfect B and B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 April 2010

My husband and I spent three nights at Cielito Sur B and B and both felt it was the nicest B and B we have ever stayed in, anywhere. We had the Ngobe Suite, which is a large room with small kitchenette (sink, mini fridge, etc) and decorated with the clothing and artifacts of that indigeneous tribe. We looked at the other suite and two smaller (but still spacious) rooms, and all were lovely. The room was spotless, the bed wonderfully comfortable and the breakfasts outstanding!! What really tops this experience is the beautiful grounds....gardens, flowers, dozens of hummingbirds and other species at the feeders, and a feeling of peace and tranquility that was very special. It was so relaxing.
We found the Cerra Punta region also lovely and unique. The mountain air is a refreshing change from the more humid coast and we enjoyed exploring the area, doing some hiking and birding, trying the local (but not plentiful) restaurants then returning to the peaceful Cielito Sur. We highly recommend this property..

“Best B&B we've ever encountered”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2010

We agree with all the other reviewers who rate Cielto Sur 5 stars - it truly is the best B&B we've ever stayed at. We were there for 9 days and really loved everything about it. The room was beautifully decorated but more important, was wonderfully comfortable for a long stay. The patio and grounds were lovely and a serene place to relax and watch the birds. Janet and Glen were marvelous hosts and the breakfasts were wonderful. I would agree with the one reviewer who accurately said that it is in a remote location (which we personally loved) so a rental car was our ticket to wandering the area and seing the coffee and orchid farms, the Barriles archeological site, hiking in the national parks, birdwatching, and the lovely scenery. We were amazed that there were so many restaurants in nearby small towns - not typical in our experience for other remote places we've been. We hope to get there again!
