“Quaint and nice enough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

We were recommended this hotel by one of the guys that worked where we stayed in Guatemala city. He said it was nice enough for the price, and he was right. It did have a nice view of the lake though, and he made sure to tell us to get a room with a lake view. (the balcony was great for drying clothes in the afternoon sun too!)

On the downside was the hot water wasn't hot, just wasn't as cold as the cold tap. But seeing as the weather was quite hot anyway, it was too bad. (and at this stage of our trip, I was used to luke warm showers)

Pros:
- Great view of lake
- Easy to organise bus to Tikal
- Quaint decor
- has pool
- really good air-con

Cons:
- cold shower
- internet on our floor didn't work, but worked fine in the lobby (after we were able to restart the router finally)
- restaurant not too great (but there are others in close proximity)
- breakfast not included

“Great view, good service, amazing value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2010

We stayed here one night in order to explore Flores, before our morning flight to Belize. We had a great view of the lake from our room and porch. The front desk staff were very helpful, and of course being on Flores it was close to all of the restaurants and shops there.

“OK for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2010

The hotel is OK, Flores is nothing to write home about. But, they do seem to be gearing up for tourists, new sidewalks, etc.
We did have an excellent meal next door, grilled camarones that were wonderful.

“Nice view”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2009

We stayed at Hotel Santana for one night on our trip back from Belize to Guatemala City. The hotel is in an old building, and it was rather noisy because you could hear everything from the other rooms (someone watching TV, a baby crying, etc).
There is practically no parking, and the room was full of mosquitos when we arrives because all of the doors were open.
Staff was friendly, but did not go out of their way to make our stay a special one. They wanted to charge for wireless internet although there was absolutely no signal in the room.
Food in the restaurant was OK, although the included breakfast was a laugh.
Unfortunately although there are many hotels in Flores and Sta. Elena none really fills my expectataions, and I have stayed in six of them.

“Fair choice for Flores”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2008

We stayed here for only one night after our visit to Tikal. It is situated on the picturesque, quaint little island on Lake Peten Itza.
It is just a 5 minute drive to the Flores airport, which was why we chose it for our stay before our early morning flight back to Guatemala City. This hotel is a very good option if you have an early flight.

The whole island of Flores can be walked in just a couple of hours (if that) and the hotel has a great location on the southwest side. (Great for sunsets!)

The hotel has an attractive, colorful exterior. The receptionist at check-in spoke little English.
The room was spacious with 2 double beds. The beds were pretty comfortable (which to me means not hard). There was ample drawer and closet space.
The room had cable TV and air conditioning, but the A/C was pretty sub-par. There was a nice big balcony with a view of the lake.

For our rate of $61US including tax we thought it was a fair choice.
We booked via their website. Search for them by "santanapeten"
They were very good about communicating via e-mail and did not require a deposit of any kind to reserve our room.

Overall, we thought it was a decent choice.
