This was my second trip to the Peten region of Guatemala, and the second time for me to stay at the Hotel Santana.
The staff has little to no functional English skills, but are still very accommodating and helpful. The restaurant also serves a decent breakfast, although next door at the Hotel Peten, the breakfast is better (especially the plantanos).
Getting to the hotel can be tricky with the narrow roads and very limited parking.
The owner has been doing renovations and adding both an air conditioned meeting room, and an ice cream shop.
Both times I have stayed with Hotel Santana, the A/C has worked very well.
Hotel also has WiFi (although the service, as with the whole island) is generally very slow during the day (I believe all bandwidth across the island is shared... and there are a couple of internet cafes on the island).
