“Convenient B&B in Uptown New Orleans”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2012 NEW

Stayed here with my bridemaids night prior to wedding at Holy Name of Jesus as well as a visit earlier in the year to ab event at Loyola. Very convenient location for these activites and the staff were very accomodating. Location is away from the French Quarter but also conventiently next to street car allowing easy access there. Across the street from Audubon Park allowing easy access to jogging path, zoo, outdoor space. On the last visit, the street car woke me up at night. This did not occur on previous visit. Breakfast is not spectacular but sufficient and better than options at a hotel. Wine and snacks during the day made up for this.

“Life is beautiful at the Park View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2012

The Park View Guest House, to me, is ‘The Unofficial Tulane University Hotel”. However, while sipping our complimentary wine and sherry with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies on the wrap around porch, watching the St. Charles streetcars stop as they make their way to the French Quarter, and joggers in Audubon Park, I learned that parents of students at the other nearby schools feel it is their schools unofficial hotel as well. I ‘moved in’ to the Park View 2 years ago. It has proven to be worthy of the terms, home away from home, southern hospitality, a class act, The Big Easy and a lesson in the big dream come to fruition. Though it was love at first sight for me, the Parkview was a work in progress, and now, 2 years later I feel comfortable recommending this treasure. My favorite rooms are the suites overlooking St. Charles, though others prefer the Audubon Park views. One of the problems with success is that it is getting harder to just pop in: last visit I lucked out with a last minute cancellation but I ‘had’ to take a room in the back. I hadn’t been to the third floor yet and what I found was charmed elegance not just in my room, but, in the common area and all of the other rooms (I peeked into the next day when left open to the cleaning crew). Period pieces take center stage but not at the expense of comfort in yummy bedding, a relaxing shower or Internet. The reason I am writing this review now is because of the breakfast, which, in my opinion, took awhile to reach the standards of the rest of the place. I’ve always loved sitting at the table nestled near the large windows overlooking Audubon Park, and always left amply nourished for the day, but now the atmosphere is calming, the kitchen staff quietly go about their service, the buffet is ready on time, the plate du jour is consistently good as are the custom eggs and omelets with a wide range of ingredients now always available. The breakfast jambalaya, gravy and biscuits and poached egg dishes are favorites though it’s hard to stay away from the self serve waffle table. As a northerner, I’m able to develop my taste for Chicory by spiking the excellent brewed coffee. Now for what is always at the heart of a place like the Parkview, the staff. Though we haven’t met, I’ve seen the vivacious, gracious owner tending to her renovations and her guests. I am quite happy to work with the desk staff, primarily Marco and Brian, who gladly carry my bags to my room or print something off that I need. I haven’t done much touring but I can depend on them for consistently good restaurant recommendations. They always make me feel welcome and special. In closing I just want to say that you should not feel that you need a nearby student to stay at the Park View. I’ve shared the porch and breakfast room with visiting scholars, newlyweds, people with business at nearby hospitals and tourists. Hope to see you there.

As the owner of Park View, I just want to apoligize for your breakfast experience. As you can see, most guests rate our breakfast as wonderful, and we take pride in providing an excellent start to every guest's day. After receiving a handful of comments (like yours) in the last couple of weeks regarding duration of breakfast and refills, I did some digging and discovered that all the issues ocurred on the same days that a particular staff member had breakfast duty each week. Suffice it to say that this should never again be a problem for you or any other guest. Thanks so much for bringing this lapse to our attention. While we do get extremely busy at certain times of the morning, we make every effort to either refill what we have been serving or offer something else to satisfy our guests. Obviously on the days this former staff member worked we fell way short of the mark.

“An Amazing Stay in an historical home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2012

What a wonderful experience in Romantic New Orleans. Could not have been more pleased with the Park View Guest House. We will return here many, many times in the future. The quiet B & B is situated right next to Audubon Park on the beautiful St Charles Ave. The Oak lined streets and Majestic Mansions were a site to behold.

Stepping into the Park View Guest House bed & breakfast was like stepping back in time. What a truly beautiful, historical home. Loved the vintage pieces & decor. We stayed in room E, which was located on the first floor with a queen bed. The ceilings were 14 feet tall and the ornate wooded mansion bed had to have been 12 feet tall. The Bed was rather comfortable and the sheets were of good quality and were very soft to the touch. The ensuite bath had white beadboard and small black & white octagon tiles on the floor. Bathroom was a good size and came eqipped with a jetted tub.

The Hospitality and Service at the Park View Guest House was amazing. We married that weekend and the staff & management were exceptionally accomodating & friendly to me & my husband. We will return here for our anniversary.

What would a B & B be with out a breakfast review. We had three different mornings to enjoy the food and it was far better than any continental breakfast you are served at a Hotel. The food varied slightly daily, they had some of the basics: Bagels w. dream cheese & danishes, assorted cereals & little cinnamon rolls. But there was also Biscuits & gravy, grits, bacon, sausage, boiled eggs, croissants with jam, Fresh berries and even a spinach egg & cheese Quiche. YUM! I would reccommend this wonderful Bed & breakfast to anyone. It was a truly a memorable experience.

Room Tip: The rooms on the lower level have the more ornate bedrooms.

“Comfortable and convenient”

Beautiful southern home with very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfasts are especially good, not just your muffins and coffee. It's located next to a Audubon Park and across the street from Tulane and Loyola Universities, with the trolley in front that takes you uptown or downtown New Orleans. Love that everything is so convenient. Picture perfect neighborhood!

Room Tip: All stairs, no elevator
