“Great French Quarter choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Normally we stay outside of the Quarter. We stayed at the Royal Sonesta for a wedding.

Our room was on the "R" floor. The seventh floor rooms seem to be more serene than other floors. Many in our party were on the third floor and they complained of noise throughout the evening. I think the "R" floor may attract a different crowd due to the additional expense. The food and beverage was good, but we did not take advantage of the offerings as the lounge is small and crowded (especially at the 5pm cocktail hour).

Room 7116 was called a "seventh floor balcony room". It had a little more room than a typical standard king. The wonderful thing is the very private, covered terrace with a table and chairs. We really enjoyed having this additional space. Your views from this terrace are of rooftops. You can see the tops of ships passing on the river, but not the river itself.

Service at the hotel was excellent. Nichole did our check-in. She was very gracious. I also want to recognize the wonderful room service employees. In particular, I wish I had the name of the woman who served our lunch on Saturday, January 14th. She was magnificent with the children and made a lunch for six on our terrace just wonderful.

The rooms and beds were in excellent condition. Bulgari products in the "R" rooms, but not the standards. The rooms are small, but the hotels in the Quarter are usually in older buildings and this is not uncommon.

We ordered room service on several occasions. The quality of food and service was top notch.

I was tempted to rate this hotel as five stars, but after a previous visit to the Windsor Court it is just not possible. I would stay here again if the price is reasonable and I wanted to stay on Bourbon.

Room Tip: seventh floor balcony rooms are great

We’re so glad that the wedding was an opportunity for you to stay with us, since you normally stay outside of the French Quarter. As you found, our R Club concierge level provides ultimate privacy, relaxation, and luxurious accommodations and amenities. We’re sorry that the size of the R Club Lounge was smaller than you expected for your large family at a crowded 5 p.m., however, we’re proud that our team was able to serve a “wonderful” lunch on your 7th floor balcony. Thanks for your feedback about the high quality food from room service and their outstanding performance. We also appreciate you recognizing the members of our team that managed to enhance your stay with us. Thanks again, and we hope that you consider staying with us next time you visit New Orleans!

“The Big "Five-O"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

The big five-o in the big easy, it was the perfect destination to celebrate. The Royal Sonesta could not of offered any more hospitality or grace. The employees make the difference there.Housekeeping does wonderful, the rooms are spotless and smell good.If you have a chance to talk to Wilbert,Wayne,or Chuck, you will not only be entertained but they can offer you advice on what to do, and what to eat where. The entire staff was excellent.
The hotel is old style architecture, rooms are a bit small, but classic N.O. style. Big crown mouldings, marble floors, cathedral ceilings in some of the rooms. The courtyard is a nice place to sit and enjoy a cigar and a drink. The foliage is beautiful. The evening offers some excellent jazz in the lobby bar.
As far as noise in the room,we had no problem. Our room was not on Bourbon Street so I can not speak about those rooms. But face it,You are in New Orleans,so guff up and enjoy!! If you want calm and quiet maybe try the beach.
My personal opinion is that if you want great food, fun, and entertainment, you must go. Staying at the Royal Sonesta definately puts you in the middle of it all. Thanks to everyone for making my birthday one to remember !
P.S. If its your birthday, pin a dollar bill on your shirt and see what happens. It is a N.O. tradition and I will tell you this,it is a lot of fun. It's a good thing, just try it.

“R Club only way to go”

My husband and I think the Royal Sonesta is one of the best hotels we have stayed in around the world. This last stay we decided to try an R Club room on the concierge floor and found it was very worth the extra dollars. The little roof top bar area was perfect for the afternoon cocktail hour and the morning breakfast. Besides the hotel being spotless the reason we return to the Royal Sonesta is because of the staff. From the bellman to the housekeepers, to the concierge to the front desk person, across the board every person we encountered was helpful and pleasant. We will keep coming back to New Orleans, a wonderful city full or history and ambience. And we will keep coming back to the Royal Sonesta. From the moment you walk into the lobby you have an aha moment, I've arrived.

Room Tip: My sister stayed in a side street balcony which was noisy but fun. Our room on the 7th floor, R club...

“Girls Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We had a few girls stay here when attending a ball.... We were on the 2nd floor - Did not have balcony overlooking Bourbon but we didnt mind since were were all locals anyway.. Our french doors to the balancony was shared with other rooms, very nice & big & overlooked the area downstairs in the hotel .. like a french cafe .. very nice & very clean.. would recommend this hotel for about anything.. staff was very nice & helpful .. little pricey with the parking @ $40.00 per 24 hours but knowing the city & living here, sure tthe city has a piece of that action & hotel probably contracts that out so the city can make their $$ off of people as they usually try to do with their inside games...

We’re so happy to have accommodated your girls group at the Royal Sonesta Hotel! We welcome the opportunity to encourage locals to vacation in their own city. Thank you for sharing your experience and recommending our hotel for its ambiance, its comfortable guestrooms, central location, and most importantly our friendly, dedicated team. We’re sorry that our parking rates were not what you expected, but please know that our parking rates are reviewed twice per year to remain competitive, offering our guests only the best rate for convenient, secured, and covered parking. Also know that the parking garage is managed by Parking Management Services and plays no “inside games.” We’d love the opportunity to accommodate your group again, so please come back to visit soon!

“This hotel really in New Orleans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

If you are looking for the real NOLA experience, look no further. The Royal Sonesta is an iconic hotel located right in the heart of the French Quarter. It's a lovely looking hotel with grand features, all in good condition. The staff were all friendly, helpful and attentive. Check-in was quick and efficient. We stayed in connecting Delux king rooms which were exactly as pictured. They were clean and had the old world ambience I was expecting. The beds were comfortable and overlooked Bourbon Street. We went to bed around 1am when the street was pumping but had no issues at all with noise. The hotel is located right in the thick of things which was great, walking anywhere around the French Quarter from the hotel was easy (the streets are flat anyway), from the bars to restarants or just wandering through the streets marvelling at the houses and soaking up the NOLA atmosphere. We dined at GW Fins (amazing) and the authentic ACME Oyster House which were both great. Tip on the Oyster house, if you don't like waiting go at lunch or very early. Following the stay here we moved to a B&B which I have also reviewed, loved it for different reasons. The Royal Sonesta is the place to stay if you want to be amongst it all.

Our team does their very best to provide impeccable service, remaining efficient and hospitable while enhancing stay in New Orleans. We’re happy to know how much fun you had enjoying New Orleans’ world-renowned cuisine at restaurants within walking distance.
