“A pefect layout for a hotel room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

This was my second time staying at the Windsor but the first since the room renovations have been completed. I continue to be impressed by the layout of the rooms. I had a one room suite with a bar area, living and dining area, and a separate bedroom. There is also a dressing area, another sink/washing area, and a separate shower/commode area. The overall impression one gets is of an elegant one bedroom apartment (although there is no kitchen). The roominess feels delightful and makes going back to a standard hotel room somewhere else a difficult adjustment. The new furnishings fit in perfectly with the old world elegance of the interiors. The staff was very courteous and low-key. Wifi was free although slightly slow. Like many high-end hotels, there were no ice machines for the guests (a minor annoyance) but ice was freely provided by housekeeping. The turn-down service provided delicious pralines every other night (alternating with chocolates).

“The Best in New Orleans!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

It is with great pleasure to report that our stay at the Windsor Court Hotel was beyond what we have imagined. We have have read some good and bad reviews about the hotel, but after staying here I could not believe why some people would write bad reviews about the Windsor Court Hotel.

This hotel is amazing and grand. The location of the hotel is perfect. If you are planning to attend a conference at the Convention Center and would like to feel like royalty, there is no other place to stay in New Orleans but the Windsor Court Hotel.

Shopping? The shops at the Canal Place and Riverwalk Mall are few blocks away. Fine dining? The Windsor Court Hotel has one of the best in the city - The Grill Room. A block away from the hotel you will find August by Chef John Besh. Things to do? The Aquarium of the America and Insectarium are also few blocks away. Gambling? The Harrah's is a across from the hotel. You will also find the New Orleans Trolley a few feet away.

The staff at the Windsor Court Hotel are all courteous and greets you with a smile from the doorman to the bellman to the concierge to the front desk and everyone else you meet in the hotel. You can feel their pride in working in this hotel. The lobby of the hotel is magnificent and grand without being pretentious, and there are several works of art in the hotel

We have booked the full suite. Let me say the room is far more grandeur than the Waldorf Astoria in New York. The room was magnificent, and the view is spectacular, having the backdraft of the Mississippi river. There is a butler's pantry in our room. The bed is comfortable, and there is enough space for our clothes. For the ladies, there is a make up table.

There is no bath tub in our room, but who would like to use one where everybody else had laid down in it and scrub their body. The shower space, however, is wonderful, and the water pressure is the best I have seen in any other hotels, considering our room is in the 16th floor. There is no problem getting the hot water. The towels are soft, and they provide Molton Brown in the bathroom. Overall, the room is fantastic, they did a wonderful job in remodeling the rooms. TIP - Call housekeeping if you would like your room clean right away. This alone separates this hotel to any other hotels we have stayed.

Regarding the facilities of the hotel, the gym is adequate to what you would need in your daily workout. There is enough machines and free weights. Towels are provided. The pool is currently being remodeled, but I am sure it will be grand once completed.

In conclusion, the Windsor Court Hotel truly deserve the Four Diamond award. It is the best hotel in New Orleans. There is no other hotel better than the Windsor Court Hotel. We will surely come back to the Windsor Court Hotel in our next trip in New Orleans.

“None better in New Orleans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We are tough critics, travel a great deal, not used to having hotel stays that are across the board exceptional. We stay in New Orleans frequently, trying this place or that, and keep going back to the Windsor Court. After our last stay we will be there again next time. Extremely attentive and knowledgeable staff. Excellent kitchen. The property and location have always been first rate; the renovation has maintained the old school tone of the hotel while bringing it up date. Someone at the Windsor Court Hotel is a stickler for detail and has imparted that to his/her staff, and has a great eye for hires -- these people, and there are a lot of them, are officiously competent and yet unfailingly warm. A really wonderfully run property.

Room Tip: views of the water, if available, are lovely

“Very Large Suites!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The Windsor presents classic elegance! Although it is not in the French Quarter, it is very close and convenient to walk to just about anywhere. Additionally, the Windsor is perfect if you have any business at the Federal Courthouse as it is just a couple of short blocks away. The rooms were recently renovated and still have separate living rooms and large bathrooms. This hotel is very nice if you are in NOLA for any extended period of time. The bar area/lounge is somewhat formal and there are no TV's in the lounge or in any other common hotel areas so there is no where to gather with other guests to watch sports. Of course, the bar/lounge area usually has nice jazz or piano music. The flowers in the lobby are always spectacular! Currently, the business center and pool areas are both under renovation but the gym is still available for use. I've stayed here numerous times and will continue to do so; however, they did have a recent price increase after the renovations and the weekend rates are a little too steep!

“Inconsistent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I rarely, rarely write bad reviews on this site, but....
Renovations at this hotel are welcomed but service is inconsistent...promises made but not kept by the concierge, a sticky parquet floor in the entrance hall upon arrival and dirty coffee mugs, turn down service sometimes perfect, other times non-existent, half the channels on the room TVs not working, hot water for the bathroom non-existent or several minutes in arriving, loud renovation work somewhere in the hotel vibrating the room all day on a Saturday, etc. When you pay for 5-star, you expect five star. Sadly, the Windsor Court court came up short this trip. Other options abound so do your research.
