“Ups and downs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I stayed here with my wife, sister and her husband back in May. We had just gotten back from a cruise and had to wait to check-in, which was fine. The staff was very helpful and let us lock up our luggage there and go explore while we waited. We returned a little after 3 to rest, we were all exhausted. We got in the room and it was clear that it hadn't been cleaned since the last person checked out. There was a used razor in the bathroom and garbage piled in front of the mirror in the room. But we were too exhausted to worry about it just then. We fell asleep and in the middle of our nap, the cleaning staff came in and quickly retreated back out upon seeing us. Overall the staff were very friendly, but the condition of the room was enough to earn the poor rating from me.

Thank you for your response. As it has been almost a year since your stay, some things have changed. Items in the rooms are being replaced. We have a new Lead Housekeeper who is being very aggressive to ensure that the rooms are cleaned properly. It is nice to hear that you were able to experience the true hospitality from that staff that we do pride ourselves on.

“First time in New Orleans”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed at the Q&C the night before we left on a cruise. I read all the reviews and a friend recommended the place, but said the staff was rude. I thought the staff was very nice. The valet guy was very helpful and friendly. The rooms are quite small but that wasn't really a problem. The hotel is close enough to everything to walk to in New Orleans anyone visiting would want to see.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I'm very pleased to hear that you did not let a few negative words discourage you. Unfortunately, people that have any sort of negative to say are much more likely to write it than those with positive notes. I am glad you had a pleasant stay with us, and we'd love to have you as our guest again in the future.

The price was right so we booked even though the reviews were not all that great. Room was clean, friendly staff, great location. Pleasantly surprised

“Great People, Mediocre Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

This is a difficult review to write as we had a mixed-bag reaction to the hotel. We were confirmed into a different hotel but got a call at 5PM on the day we were to check in that the original hotel was overbooked and they wanted to bump us to the Q&C, a sister hotel. We agreed as we were tired from a day of driving and still had another hour+ to go. The hotel is convenient to the convention center (maybe 10 blocks) and Harrah's (maybe 6 blocks) and is easy to find. There are 2 buildings and about half of the rooms are above/behind the front desk and the rest are just across a very small street--easy to get to. We were in the building without a front desk closest to Poydras.

When we arrived we discovered that we were not the only ones who had been bumped over to the Q&C and they were not prepared for the influx. We called for extra pillows and a blanket 3 times that night and didn't get them until the 4th call the next afternoon.

The rooms are small and the decor is older. The bed sagged in the middle all the way across. The walls are thin. We had a group of kids next door whose parents were elsewhere in the hotel that kept us up with their loud talking/laughter for 2 nights. However, my wife did call the front desk about 1:30am the second night to complain and they took care of it, we think by calling the parents who called the kids. The security lock fell off as the door jam was cracked and the screws fell out.

On the upside, everyone that we dealt with always had a great attitude, especially the valet parking guys.

Would I recommend it? I would not tell you to avoid this place but I also would not tell you to stay here. Hence--a review of Average.

“worst hotel I've stayed at in New Orleans”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Our stay at the Queen + Crescent was miserable. The staff was rude, the room smelled, there was an armoire in front of the only window in the room, there were no covers on the bed, there were no extra blankets to be had, they didn't even take the time to change the alarm clock 3 months after the time change. Housekeeping didn't clear away the trash after 4 nights of stay, the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor, there were no hangers in the closet and no ice bucket. Despite numerous calls to the front desk, none of our requests were met. We were moved to the Q+C from our booked hotel because of a maintenance issue and the front desk manager told us we were "not guests of the hotel and would have to take any complaints to our previous hotel". New Orleans has always been an extremely hospitable city, and this was the worst experience we've ever had there.
