It was one of those football weekends in New Orleans, where everything was higher, and most sold-out, so we opted for Expeida’s “Secret Hotels” deal. After purchasing, we found out it was the “Pelham Hotel.
From their website I was pleased. Its location was good, right off of Canal; close to the French Quarter & Harrah’s. But as I read the reviews I got anxious, however I am happy to report it was a pleasant experience, far better than many reviews.
Upon trying to check in, they didn’t have my reservation, and were very nice, but told me they were “sold-out”. After a short discussion they called Expedia, and within an hour, they had the matter sorted out. In the interim they gave us a “reserved room” on the third floor, facing Magazine Street.
The room was odd shaped and a tad small, but it’s not a new hotel. The bedding was average, and the bathroom was okay. Nothing struck me as spanking-clean, but it was fine. And one of the windows didn’t shut completely at the top, so road noise & sirens could be heard all night.
Other minor complaints would be the TV reception was poor, the phone didn’t work, and the west elevator did smell of mildew, or mold, or something.
After re-reading this, it almost sounds like it was a nightmare, but it really wasn’t that bad
Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor. The room had high ceilings, and 3 long windows.
