“Fun hotel. Good location if you don't mind walking a bit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Quirky hotel. We stayed her May 21, 2010. The hotel's location is not bad as you can walk to the French Quarter (make sure you have comfy shoes though), and the river and Cafe Du Monde (long walk though). The first room they took us to was beautiful but noisy and too bright from a construction crew outside. They offered to move us, and though I was a little apprenhensive as they took us to the back of the hotel with no windows, the new room was even more interesting and just as big, with high ceilings, a spacious bathroom, and old style brick walls. Truly lovely. Would stay here again.

“Very nice stay. Small mishaps that were corrected quickly”

Stayed at the Pelham Feb 3-6. We arrived early and the staff was able to accomodate us in one of two available rooms. The lock had previously broken on the door and had a keypad lock. The lock didn't bother us. The room was beautiful very old style which I just love. Made u feel you were in a historic building but giving you modern amenities. The first night the a/c stopped working. We decided to wait until morning to have it fixed and it was fixed while we were out. Sunday night we found our door unlocked when we returned. We mentioned it to the front desk and they stated they will notify New Orleans PD to make a report if any items were missing. Nothing was missing and they offered us a credit since the service staff must have forgotten to lock the door. I would stay here again very clean the staff was very attentive

“Good location, good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

It was one of those football weekends in New Orleans, where everything was higher, and most sold-out, so we opted for Expeida’s “Secret Hotels” deal. After purchasing, we found out it was the “Pelham Hotel.

From their website I was pleased. Its location was good, right off of Canal; close to the French Quarter & Harrah’s. But as I read the reviews I got anxious, however I am happy to report it was a pleasant experience, far better than many reviews.

Upon trying to check in, they didn’t have my reservation, and were very nice, but told me they were “sold-out”. After a short discussion they called Expedia, and within an hour, they had the matter sorted out. In the interim they gave us a “reserved room” on the third floor, facing Magazine Street.

The room was odd shaped and a tad small, but it’s not a new hotel. The bedding was average, and the bathroom was okay. Nothing struck me as spanking-clean, but it was fine. And one of the windows didn’t shut completely at the top, so road noise & sirens could be heard all night.

Other minor complaints would be the TV reception was poor, the phone didn’t work, and the west elevator did smell of mildew, or mold, or something.

After re-reading this, it almost sounds like it was a nightmare, but it really wasn’t that bad

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor. The room had high ceilings, and 3 long windows.

“If you like yourself, don't stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

This hotel has a great location. The location is not nearly AS great as the many great-looking hotels smack dab in the middle of the French Quarter, but you are still only a five minute walk from it. This concludes my complimentary part of the review. We were here for six days and spent as little time in the hotel as possible. We had four adults in a room with two queen-sized beds, but its a miracle that they were ever able to fit them into the room in the first place. We were so cramped we barely had room to move around. We had one chair at a tiny desk that hit the foot of one of the beds if you pulled it out far enough to sit down in. And there was nowhere else in the hotel to go to get comfortable. No couch in the foyer, no internet room, no continental breakfast room (no continental breakfast either, or room service while we're at it), and no fitness center. And yes, they did have free wireless internet, but come on people, I'm not going to commend you for that. That's like when I was a kid and I asked my dad if I could stay up late since I did my homework and my dad said you don't get a reward for doing what you're supposed to do. We were there in January, but New Orleans had unusually high temperatures during our stay so it was 70-75 degrees most of the time. Of course, our air conditioning did not work for the first six days. There was an incessant scratching sound in the wall every night in the middle of the night. Had to have been mice. $30 a night for parking. Also, our telephone and the safe were broken. We told them about this within the first ten minutes of our stay and it was never fixed. Ok living conditions for a college dorm, but not a hotel room that you are paying $200 a night for.

“The Pelham Has Gotten Better Reviews From Me...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

The Good...
Super clean rooms and nice cleaning staff. Great location right next to Harrah's and the Quarter, good prices.

The bad/average
The customer service at the front desk was seriously lacking. Generally courteous, but one front desk attendant was just rude and awkward... She's on the heavy side and wasn't willing to grant us the room we requested months ago or even a compromise... Not a deal breaker, but it started our visit with a disappointment...

I'd recommend the Pelham overall, but just can't bring myself to give it the 5 stars I've given it before.

Room Tip: Book early and get a great deal! DON'T take their valet, parking lots and meters are around easi...
