“Will Stay Again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This is a no frills hotel. Our room was small, but the bathroom was surprisingly adequate. We liked it. Very clean space, nice towels. Staff from front desk to housekeeping was friendly and helpful. The street is residential and well lighted at night. Easy walk to Jackson Square. Very close to Bourbon Street, but hotel is quiet. Our bed had a soft mattress which was uncomfortable for me, but my husband loved it. We have already made a reservation for our next stay in a few weeks.

“Wonderful old NOLA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

This is not your "cookie-cutter, looks like every other hotel you've ever stayed at hotel" This was a great, no frills location with a wonderful courtyard. We especially enjoyed the feeling of an old school New Orleans place. We found the staff to be very down to earth and helpful. Easy walk to Bourbon and lovely streetscape outside the hotel. If you are looking for an impressive "stay in your room" experience, this may not be for you; however, it was clean and friendly. Those of you who need a place to sleep and recover from your French Quarter exploration, this is it! Very affordable.

“Awesome Place amazing price.”

We came into town at the last minute and the city was packed...we found the hotel through our gps and got lost..my husband called the hotel to get help with directions..the lady at the counter was very excellent giving us directions and stayed on the phone with us until we pulled up to the front of the hotel. Upon arriving to the hotel we were greeted by a very friendly clerk (i think her name was sherice)who got us a room and was very helpful helping us find a place to eat since it was 10' clock at night. The room was Perfect...it was older than what you would be use to from large corporations but it was well worth the price. The next night we asked for a cab and the same clerk was very helpful at getting us a cab and recomending places to see in the city and booked us a city tour right there at the front desk. We have never been to a place with staff that is this friendly and helpful as we were first timers to New Olreans. Ty to the Staff(sherice) you made our trip awesome!

“Funky and a bit sleazy.... but in a good way.”

Just got back from my first ever trip to NOLA. My boyfriend had stayed here at the St. Peter House about 11 years ago. So when he found a good flight rate he hopped on their website and booked us a room.
We checked in after midnight on a Friday & the young fellow at the desk was so not willing to help us shlep our bags up the rickety stairs, which made me laugh.
The place is run down. But it was also CHEAP! Just $99.00 for Fri & Sat then $79.00 for Sun & Monday.
Our room was a "suite" with a separate living room & bedroom. It was decorated in a fun and funky way, with bright red walls & jazz posters. The bathroom was a wonderfully horrible shade of green, but was clean for a place that had paint chipping off of some of the tiles. The shower worked well and the shower curtain looked new. The bed was huge and very little light was able to sneak in, so we could sleep in easily.
The location is PERFECT. St. Peter is very central and this is just two blocks down from Bourbon St.
One more "funny" thing. The one day we asked for maid service, she gave us new towels, made the bed, but didn't take the pile of trash we had left on top of the mini fridge... I had thought I was being helpful.
Anyway... awesome location, clean enough that we saw no bugs or anything that creeped us out...
As long as you're fine with funky... I highly recommend it and will stay there again.
Oh, and we didn't experience any negativity in regards to Johnny's ghost. Then again, we didn't stay in that room.

“This place is showing its age!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

On a recent trip to NOLA, we decided to stay in the Quarter and this place came up and the location is two blocks off Bourbon and you can almost hear the bells of the Saint Louis in Jackson Square. The staff was warm and pleasant. A cat named Oliver lives at the hotel and a little puppy comes to work with her owner. Sadly, this is where the charm ends. Our first room was a spartan room of two queen sized beds, a lamp on the table with a 1980's alarm clock, far away from the beds. The covers are aged and in need of replacing. The boxspring looked stained. The outlets for our phone chargers either did not hold the plugs in the wall or just did not work. One had a burn whole in it. The room, when entered, had an overwhelming smell of BO. The sink in the bathroom was rusted and had no stopper. The bathtub did not drain at a reasonable speed and the walls were gross. The floors were slimey and once we climbed in bed after a shower, the sheets were the source of the fowl odor! Lucky for us, the second bed was safe but we did have the odor in the air.
The next morning, we were polite and asked for another room and explained why. The desk was very friendly about this and upgraded us to a "suite". They also offered to bring up our bags to the new room. The new room was better, but still very bare. We had a living room with a mini-fridge, always a plus and a day bed and a sofa, along with a 16in flat screen tv over the day bed. The furniture looked very worn and aged, much like second hand store items. The bare brick walls added a be of delight and reminded us that the hotel is almost 200 years old. A nice short stair flight down in the hallway leads to the bathroom which was a slight improvement over the first. The sink and tubs were better but we had no towel rack and the towels were over used and sometimes not cleaned up to par. The bedroom was small and the king sized bed filled the room. The window a/c did not work, which was ok for the weekend we were there.
To conclude, this place reminded me of a hostel. Sadly, for our stay, the price we paid for the hotel stay was not worth it. If you like location and do not mind sleep in a questionable environment or you want some historical "charm", stay here. If you want to stay someplace that has post 1980s standards, do not stay here!
