“NOT GREAT... JUST OK”
Stayed at this hotel eleven days while attending a medical conference at the Sheraton. This hotel's rate, parking included, was about $100 less than the Sheraton. It was worth taking the trolley to Canal Street everyday.
Checked in early on a weekday, no problem. First impression of the room, very small, but it looked like it had been recently renovated, clean, definitely a good deal for the price, except that yes...we got that room by the ice machine, and the soda machine, the metal stairs in the back, and housekeeping, so the noise level was pretty high most of the time. I didn't have to set the alarm clock in the morning to go to the conference, because I was awakened everyday at 6am by the hotel staff getting ice from the ice machine to set up for breakfast, which by the way was very generic.
Housekeeping service was pretty good, room made on time, the shower head could have used some cleaning or probably needed to be replaced.
Free and ample parking, spaces available at all hours. Kind of worried after seeing the cops parked in the lot, found out that one of the guest's car had been vandalized. There is a security guard on the premises at night, we saw him many times sitting at one of the tables in the courtyard with his laptop open for hours.
Towards the end of the stay, spent one sleepless night, the room on top of ours was occupied by a couple with two small kids, as soon as they checked in it felt as they were bouncing off the walls, later found out that this room is one of the lofts with the stairs and the kids spent the whole night jumping off the stairs unto the wooden floor, it took several calls to the front desk for them to quiet down for a little while. Next day we requested we needed to change rooms and were told that they were checking out that day, they did.
All in all, if you can put up with the noise, this hotel is not a bad deal for the price. Would we stay there again? Probably not.
Room Tip: Get a room away from the stairs, ice machine, soda machine and housekeeping headquarters.

I am very sorry they did not enjoy their stay, however, they needed a room with 2 beds, and did not want to spend over $100 per night, including taxes as they were on a tight budget. When they checked in, they did ask about the noise level as they were light sleepers, as it was explained them the room type they booked, we only had 2 rooms in that configuration, and both located on the ground floor, right next to the ice machine and coke machine, and that it is across the walkway from the staircase that leads to the 2nd floor. From pictures that are posted on the web site and many review sites, guests can see we are a Courtyard style hotel with 2 floors. We do not have an elevator, as we did not see the need for it when the design of the property was not calling for one, we put in 2 double wide metal staircases that lends itself more to the courtyard atmosphere . We offered to move them to the upper floor where we have a room type with multiple beds, but it costs a bit more than they wanted to spend, and they declined.
Yes, we did have a car vandalized. The 1st time since 2003 and we have not had any problems since then either. It was very unfortunate, however, the guest had left a pair of bicyles in the back of the Club Van, in plain sight instead of asking us to lock up for the week. Although we have Security staff, they can not be in all places at the same time, and his claim about him sitting in the courtyard on a laptop for hours? I don’t think so, or he would not have a job.
We took immediate action to get notice to the guests on the cruise so he can contact his insurance company. We immediately covered the broken out window to protect it from rain, and moved forward to get the repairs underway.
Breakfast is an Expanded Continental breakfast, more of a get me going nosh, not a full hot meal that will carry you to lunch at 1 pm. We have about 8 different items on the buffet to choose from, plus coffee, juice and/or tea. The items being, varity of Danish, Cin. Raisin Bread for toasting, Plain and Whole Wheat bagels w/cream cheese , variety of jams/jellies, butter pats, also Grit and Oatmeal packets you make with Hot water, 2 cereals (Raisin Bran and Honey Nut Cheerio’s), and then there is Yoplait yogurt, and Activa yogurt. If this is generic, I am sorry, but most guests do not come to New Orleans to eat at a hotel, they go to Café Du Monde for Beignets or to any number of restaurants in our area that specialize in Breakfast.
I do wish him the best of travels in the future and hope he finds the perfect hotel given his budgetary needs and noise level restrictions. I am sorry we could not make him comfortable.
