We like New Orleans pretty well, though find the French Quarter disturbingly touristy after an hour or so, so it was very nice to get out of downtown when we were done there. This small hotel is at the edge of the Lower Garden District, which is pretty spotty---some very nice restaurants (including Emeril's Delmonico) are right there, and it's just a short block off the St. Charles streetcar line, but there's also a burned out house 2 doors down and a homeless man who sleeps in the doorway across the street. The street is well-lit, so we were not concerned about leaving our car there or walking at night out to St. Charles. The hotel is a bit shabby (just like New Orleans itself), but the staff is GREAT and our room became a cool, homey oasis. Comfy bed, A/C and ceiling fan. I'd definitely stay there again as I think the neighborhood is generally improving. However, if your tastes run to Holiday Inn and Shoney's, you'll want to book a room elsewhere...this would be too funky for you.

“Met All of Our Needs - Highly Recommended”

As a group of first-timers to the city the Old World Inn provided the perfect home base for our visit. The location was perfectly centralized for seeing all aspects of the city - easy access to all sights and dining; the rooms were comfortable and exhibited charming old New Orleans architectural details; our hosts were friendly, well-informed and truly did everything to ensure a great stay. We'll make this our home away from home for every future visit!

“Great Hospitality with Local Flair”

The hospitality at this inn is great and the innkeepers know the city well. The prices can't be beat and the decor is charming. I highly recommend this inn and can't wait for the restaurant to open in Spring 2004!

Not true about the TVs - we found the Inn charming and comfortable!
Great value and friendly staff. Easy way to enjoy a trip with the family. Close to the street car and other attractions. Can't wait to get back to the Inn!

“Warm and Affordable”

My own toilet one block from the mardi gras parade route was worth the price of my room! Close to public transportation. European feel, old New Orleans charm, no frills. Both gourmet and economy resturants nearby (2-3 blocks). A bargain stay.
