We stayed at the Lamothe House last year during Jazzfest. My Son-in-law booked a suite in the carriage house on line. We arrived about sundown after a full day at Fest and were ready for a shower and nice bed after staying all day in the sun at Jazzfest. My wife and I stayed in the back bedroom in twin beds and my daughter, son-in-law and 3 year old grand daughter stayed in the main bedroom in a king sized bed.
At about 5AM I heard my wife's bed creak and thought I saw her get up and get dressed in the south corner of the bedroom. I thought it was odd to be up so early, but turned over and went back to sleep. I awoke again about 7:30. I commented to my wife about her odd behavior so early in the morning. She said,"I just got up and dressed in the north corner of the bedroom, not the south corner." I didn't think much about it and we went to the main house for breakfast. When we had finished, we met our kids in the courtyard sitting on the patio. I commented about the odd happenings early in the morning and I couldn't explain what I had seen. I told them the story and they both had the strangest look on their faces. When our 3 year old grand daughter had awakened she asked her mom,"Mommy, who was that little girl in our room last night." We did not have any previous knowledge of ghosts at Lamothe House nor do I believe in ghosts or any para normal activity, but it definitely shook all of us up. My grand daughter was only 3 and had no idea what ghosts are. When we returned home I looked up Lamothe House on the internet and discovered the place was haunted by a mother and a small child or children. I read this review to my wife and she still gets chills when reminded of the stay. She says, "We won't be back."
