“Neat Vibe, Awesome Bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I stayed at this place with some girlfriends during a three day weekend. It is a very nice hotel but the selling feature is most definitely the lobby and especially the bar. If you come in at night like we did you are welcomed to candle light and a very pleasant aroma. The bar has more interesting smells as fresh herbs are everywhere. The drink menu at the bar is absolutely fantastic and has some very unique choices. I was particularly pleased at the fresh fruits that they used in their drinks.

Our room was surprisingly spacious. The four of us fit into it fine but did notice that the beds were a tad small as they were full beds instead of queens. It really didn't effect us too much because we are all small but a bigger group might have a problem with it. The shower was huge and by far the best feature in the room. The counter space in the bathroom was also small but we all managed fine. The only real complaint we had was a lack of outlets for hair equipment.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. When we needed extra robes and towels they brought us some within 15 minutes. They provided great options for local restaurants and remembered us when we dropped off our bags and returned later. The location could not be beat. It was two blocks away from Bourbon Street and walking distance to the French Quarter and the trolley. What's great about this hotel is that you are close enough to the hustle and bustle to get out and party but far enough away to sleep. All around a great stay and even if you choose another hotel the bar is a MUST.

Room Tip: Choose rooms away from the elevators.

Thank you for your review. We are thrilled that you liked IH so much and loa, our bar as well. Alan and his Team of Bartenders are certainly the best in the city. There is not one drink that is not carefully thought out and hand crafted. We look forward to having you and your girlfriends back very soon!

“Great Location, very chic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We stayed at International House Hotel over New Years and the Sugar Bowl, so the prices were inflated. The front staff was very nice and helpful as was the door man. WE parked our car her and the valet was nice and quick whenever we needed the car.
The lobby is very cool, small bar, computer for guests to use. We had 3 rooms amongst our group, one double double 2 single queens. the double double room 305 was huge, with a walk in closet, with no light, very hard to see anything in, and a bathroom almost the size of one of the queen rooms which were quite tight for $219 a night.
Little glitches, no toiletry refills for 2 days, then that was straightened out, no extra toilet paper, had to call down at 11 at night for more. room was dark couldn't see in closet, and it didn't seem to matter what we put the temp on it didn't seem to change.
It would be nice to have a complimentary coffee service set up in the morning, the bar area would be simple to do it in.
the location is perfect, 2 blocks off the french quarter, a block from the trolley. We had no worries as far as safety at this location.
I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: 305 was huge 2 double beds

“cooliest bar ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Great little hotel. staff was beyond nice and helpfull!! Rooms were very tasteful. Location wonderfull, could walk pretty much everywhere.
The bar was our favorite thing, it was beyond cool, The bartenders/mixologists were so much fun they all really seemed to enjoy making our cocktails. Vintage bar ware, cool atmosphere, interesting drinks made with freash herbs (Check it out).
The only reasons the hotel doesn's get 5 stars are no coffee in the room/ strong perfume smell in the lobby/ undesirable room service menu. but the good out weighd the bad for sure and would totally stay there again.

Room Tip: Don't do a rock star room feels like a dungeon

“Gorgeous hotel, wonderful staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I recently stayed at IH for a reunion trip with my high school girlfriends.
I'm still recovering! We had two suites we shared between the 7of us. Wow, what a great location! Amazing bar, staff, and rooms. I will for sure be back.
The beds are super comfy and I cannot get over how wonderful the staff was. Especially Stephanie who was excited to give us tips on restaurants and music to check out.
Can't wait for my next NOLA trip!!!

“What was that noise??!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Friendly staff and clean rooms. Grossly overpriced for BCS Bowl Weekend. Premium price for a very average, but clean room. Rooms do NOT have safes so you have to use safe deposit boxes at front desk A bit cumbersome to say the least. Horrofic noise came from cooling unit outside our window every time is turned on. Sounded like a car crash every time...over and over again....Complained to staff and were told "nothing they could do". No other rooms available. Convenient location to French Quarter.

Room Tip: Avoid any rooms overlooking the cooling units !!

Thank you for staying with us over BCS. It was an exciting weekend! We are very sorry about the noise that you heard from the 3rd floor roof. Our cooling tower was givng us some challenges that weekend and we have resolved the issue at hand. We do hope that you will be with us again!
