“Perfect New Orleans Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Rented the entire compound for 3 nights for my cousin's bachelor party. I was amazed when I walked through the door and laid eyes on the awesome character of exterior landscape and interiors of house. Absolutely beautiful. We had 15 guys all together and we had more than enough room. This place was so fun that we spent an entire day (without leaving compound!) outside on terrace/patio. Scott and co. including Wendy & Don were over the top nice and very accomadating. Would love to visit again.

We stayed here for my husband's birthday. There were 14 of us and it was perfect. No mold, no problems. Hot tub was clean, courtyard was lovely. Kitchen is great. Beds were very comfortable. We had the whole place and everyone was pleased with their room/suite. It's great that each cottage has its own bath and kitchen, so you can be together as much as you want but also have your own space. You don't need a car for anything. Very close to Frenchman Street and a short walk to the French Quarter. Really, it couldn't have been better. Wendy and Don, the caretakers were wonderful, One of the Scotts has a great record/cd shop that's well worth a visit.

Room Tip: The Crow's Nest is cute but not for tall people.

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Stayed there a couple weeks ago with 10 of my buddies for my cousins bachelor party. Scott, the owner, was very easy to deal with when making the reservations and getting access to the house. We originally had rented two units for the 10 of us, but when we got there, I learned that the other units were not being rented at weekend, so Scott gave us a free upgrade, which included an extra unit with three more beds.

The location is perfect. Only a couple blocks walk from all the action on bourbon street. Only one block away from Port of Call, an awesome burger place. I will probably never stay in a hotel again in Vegas. A house is much better, especially if you want a home base to relax at during the day.

The house was built in the early 1800's, as much of new Orleans was. It is what you would expect it to be, which is a nice little pad to stay at during trips to new Orleans. I would recommend is place.

“Awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

My friends and I reserved a room at this place after being told the room would sleep three people because it had a "loft." What a mistake. Our room was dark as night -- no natural light and lit by a couple of dim CFLs. It was so moldy we weren't permitted to turn off an air conditioning unit that was next to the bed and which sounded like a jet airplane. The "loft" was a tiny storage spot over the bathroom with an old, dirty futon. There was no safety railing so turning over in the middle of the night could result in falling 12 feet to the room below. When we complained about all of this and said we were leaving, Scott, the property manager, apologized and offered us a full refund. Since then he has never credited my Visa and never responded to my many emails and voicemails. The property and everything in it is old and run down. To give you some idea of how it is maintained, the yard had leaves in it from the previous winter and the property manager said our bedding probably seemed dirty because of a party in the room the night before. And it is no bargain. Our rooms at the Omni Royal cost less. I don't know how anyone could say this is a good place for a family to stay for a wedding weekend.

“Great place for large groups!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

30 of my friends and colleagues were all able to stay at the Kerelec House when we went to New Orleans for a convention. We had not seen eachother in a while and it was a great and cost-effective way to enjoy some time together but also have privacy when needed. We used every room and house in the complex (even the couches) but no one complained of lack of privacy. The individual houses were great since most had their own kitchens and common spaces. The main house was used for gatherings and the hot tub was much appreciated.

The complex is very conviently located as we were able to walk to the French Quarter and the Convention Center within 20 minutes. The trolley's were also a short walk away which made it very easy to explore the city. Frenchman street was only a few blocks and had great food, music, and atmosphere.

The owners were very helpful and patient as organizing 30 people can get confusing. They were even flexible with our check in and out times so that those with later flights did not have to hang out at the airport. Definitely would stay again!
