“Magical”

We started our trip in Memphis and after a couple days moved down to New Orleans and stayed in the Lookout Inn. I want to take this opportunity to Thank John and Lisa for making our stay the most magical and wonderful experience in my life. I have read some of the below reviews which highlight exactly what we felt when we stayed. However, some of the below reviews are ridicuous and the responces are spot on - those people were scared of New Orleans. Unfortunatly we didn't have the pleasure of meeting Lisa, but we did share experiences and stories with John who was the most hospitable person I know. We came all the way from England to this beautiful B&B and I could have stayed there my entire life. The rooms are stunning, the outside is beautiful and the atmosphere is...MAGIC!

We will now visit every year and everytime will stay in the Lookout Inn of beautiful New Orleans. I cannot fault this place at all. I cannot fault the way me and my friends were made to feel special and appreciated by John and his friends.

See you soon.

Kirsty, England UK.

Room Tip: Do what we did if you're travlling in a group, put the keys in a hat and draw them out - no room...

“Great neighborhood location”

My husband and I (50's) just returned from the Lookout Inn where we stayed for 6 days. We were there for my daughter's wedding and wanted to stay close by their house in the Bywater neighborhood. We had the Mission suite and it was perfect for us to return to after a busy day with wedding events. The salt water pool was the perfect temp. due to the summer heat but was refreshing. The courtyard is lovely and yes, it was still possible even in the summer to enjoy it in the early am and toward dark at night. We never saw the owners or the property manager at all. There are so many restaurants and bars to enjoy in the neighborhood within walking distance but the quarter is a short ride away. If you would enjoy being out if the quarter mayhem and prices, this is the place for you. Also, if you would like to experience the area as a local, stay here. We would like to add Satsuma's on Dauphine as a great organic breakfast, coffee, and lunch spot. Manager forgot to put out the keys for our other party, so giving service a 3. Also, there was no confirmation of the reservation or charging our credit cards.

“Go somewhere else if you want, but this place is the BEST!!”

The Lookout is the ultimate cool place we've been to stay in NO. Really nicely decorated, large, quiet, and private.....and reasonable. The pool area is awesome. We felt like we owned the place, and even though three of the four suites were rented, we never saw anyone else. The on-site manager was very helpful and discreet, the whole place extra clean, and the Bywater....no worries here! We walked all over the place at all hours and this neighborhood is so cool! Good places to eat within less than a block, and an air conditioned city bus stops on the corner every 20 minutes or so, and they were always on time. We were there for four days, used the pool every day, ate the best ribs at the Joint, good seafood at Jack Dempsey's, friendly guy at the corner store selling cold beer, fried chicken and red beans and rice at the Bywater BBQ....I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we go back. Only downside? United cab DOES charge extra for crossing Elysian, we talked to two dispatchers, but that is SO minor. Can't recommend more highly. Great place all around.

Room Tip: Stayed in the Mission suite, better than pics show!

“Nice place, good vaule but Not if you want to have a good time”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2011

The hotel is nice and the area is very local and friendly. However if you are looking to have a good time then go somewhere else. Unless your idea of a good time is quiet time in your rooms by 10pm. And the owners/supervisors live on property so you will be sent to your room if you don't go on your own.....seriously.

Overall nice place but not if you want to have a good time and absoultly not for a bachlor or bachlorette party.

Disgruntled Bachelor Party #1. YES! if your idea of a good time is breaking and burning things, spilling beer, glass, butts and puke all over the place, then telling the owner to get the "F" out of his own back yard, because they were really into their all-night conversation. this is truly not the place for you!

These guys got kicked out after their first night. They had acquired a tricycle from an elderly gentleman at the bar down the street and they were ringing my neighbor's doorbell at 3am. First and only time ANYONE has been asked to leave. I feel bad for most of them as only a few ruined it for everyone else. But NO HOTEL will allow you to trash the place and disturb neighbors and other guests.

After this party, we stopped booking bachelor parties, and guests under 25. Although MANY groups have had a great time here, they were aware enough of their own surroundings not to treat a nice hotel like a gutter on Bourbon Street.

We get plenty of nice couples and adult groups that we really don't need the stress of bachelor parties anymore. Other guests and neighbors can feel safe they will be among adults here.

This is a place for partying. If anyone in your group can't handle it, please stay somewhere else.

“My new favorite!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2011 via mobile

I stayed at the lookout with some friends for just under a week. This place I one of the most relaxing and fun places to stay. This will be my destination for my annual travel to the great city of New Orleans. Stay away if you are the kind of people that like to be stupid and break things for fun, but if you are a grown up that enjoys a quiet little b&b with great atmosphere and an awesome staff. This is the place for you!
