My husband and I stayed at 1896 O'Malley House January 7-9, 2012 to attend the BCS football game. It was a wise choice. (We had previously stayed in the French Quarter for the Super Bowl two years ago but it was a huge mistake. We did not get to sleep until 5am because of the noise and yelling of the passerbys.) No problem with noise at the O'Malley House. It is located out of the French Quarter which is exactly what we wanted. The French Quarter is a great place to visit and celebrate, not a place where you want to sleep. The O'Malley House is just a few steps from the Canal Street streetcar and it is incredibly easy to get into the French Quarter riding the streetcar. And no parking fees for your car! Besides the wonderful location, we were so pleased with all of the well thought out amenities that this B&B had to offer. We stayed on the second floor in a lovely spacious room. The beds are really comfortable with soft bed linens. The bathroom amenities are wonderful. I really liked the Honey shampoo, Honeysuckle conditioner and the O'Malley House bathrobes. The chocolates on our pillow were a nice touch on our return each evening. There is a generous butlers pantry stocked with wine, beer, soft drinks, snacks, homemade muffins, and a wide choice of high quality teas. The dining table is very elegant and the breakfast is delicious. Fruit cups with yogurt, homemade muffins, breakfast casseroles, etc... served on beautiful china. The coffee is rich and flavorful if you enjoy quality coffee. Larry, the owner joins you at breakfast for delightful conversation and helpful suggestions on things to do in New Orleans. You have access to a computer and fax and they provide daily newspapers. I can't say enough good things about this bed and breakfast. From the telephone call where we made our reservations with Jason until we checked out 3 days later, we were very pleased with our choice of B&B and see why it is consistently number one on Trip Advisor for best B&B in New Orleans. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast and plan on making it our place to call home whenever we are in New Orleans. You'll love the dogs too! They are well behaved and very sweet.
