“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We stayed here as a pre-cruise hotel. The room was large with two queen beds. The beds were in separate rooms, each room with its own flat screen TV and a bathroom between. The breakfast was good and more than continental. The staff was VERY accommodating and friendly.

The hotel is located about 1 block from Bourbon Street and Canal Street in the downtown area next to the French Quarter. The location is too far to walk with your luggage to the cruise port so I recommend a taxi which is $7 per person. The hotel staff was nice enough to call us a taxi. Without luggage, the walk is doable down to the Riverwalk, casino and restaurants at the port, or you can catch the streetcar on Canal Street. The only places to eat dinner around this hotel are in the French Quarter. We didn't venture out very late so I don't know how safe the area is at night. There is a Subway sandwich shop attached to the hotel but it closes early.

If we had to do it over again, we would choose to stay closer to St. Louis Cathedral, Cafe Du Monde, Riverwalk and the casino. There are several hotels down there but I am sure the price is much more.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front of the hotel can be a little noisy in the lower floors.

“Depending on your needs this may or may not be the place for you”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Overall, this hotel provides great value and is in reasonable proximity to the French Quarter. The rooms contain a refrigerator and microwave which may add convenience to foodstuffs purchased at a nearby supermarket. Breakfast too is a nice feature. The staff are friendly as many reviewers have stated. My room maintained a musty odor, the windows were dirty and the view depressing. If you want a view that reminds you where you are then another room or hotel may be preferred. In addition I concur with other reviewers that the foot traffic in the area is sparce leading one to feelings of insecurity though this may just be a perception. I was travelling alone while attending a conference several blocks away so this probably was not the ideal place for me. Had I been on vacation with a partner perhaps it would have been more tolerable. I moved out after one night given lack of alternative room availability and the management was supportive of my decision.

“30th Birthday in New Orleans”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

So I booked a double room for my 30th birthday where 20+ friends and family were flying in to celebrate. About half stayed at the Quality Inn and half stayed elsewhere. Going into the trip, I was worried because people who have lived or traveled in New Orleans mentioned that the O'Keefe St area wasn't the safest at night. Upon arrival, my fears were put to rest, seeing as the swanky Roosevelt hotel was right next door and Canal St is only two blocks away. I never felt endangered out at night either by myself or with a group. The staff was super-friendly and accomodating, and the rooms were clean and plenty large. From a location standpoint, the hotel was an easy walk to pretty much anywhere in the French Quarter as well as close to the St. Charles trolley line to get to the Garden District or Uptown. While not the newest or plushest hotel in the area, the great service and inexpensive room price more than made this a solid choice. I would definitely recommend, especially for budget travelers.

Room Tip: Request the suite that includes a hallway with mini-fridge and bar sink separating the two bed areas...

“Best customer service I've ever experienced!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My family of 6 adults and 6 kids stayed a night here in December. We got in later in the evening after an almost 9 hour drive from Oklahoma. They front desk guys were so wonderful!! After getting us checked into our rooms, they provided us with a stack of take out menus and gave us great suggestions for take out. Let us hang out in the lobby all evening eating, and letting the kids play. They kept asking if they could get us anything. Very very great people!! The rooms were a little small, and nothing fancy. But, we were not there to sit in our rooms so that didn't really matter to us. The location is perfect!! Super close walking distance to everything. We will stay here every time we come back! Price is great & service is priceless!!
