“Bourbon street via the back door . . .”
Although I initially wanted to stay in a smaller, bed and breakfast, boutique style hotel, I was happy with what $180 a night paid for at The Astor. The only major bummer, in my opinion, is the lack of hot tub. The best part of staying at The Astor was the fact that it is located right at the intersection of Canal and Bourbon Streets, in the heart of the action, so to speak. My boyfriend and I had only to stumble out the backdoor to be in the thick of it. My only complaints are that the queen size beds are rather short; I'm 5'6" and felt, even after moving a small mountain of pillows, that it was too short. My boyfriend, at 6'2", when fully stretched out, laughed at how his feet hung off the edge of the bed! The shower head, in the otherwise very elegant and spacious bathroom, was also a bit to low for his head! These same issues with space occur in older building in New Orleans. The room itself was spacious; my sister, who stayed nearby at The Monteleone, had a much more cramped, smaller room for almost twice the price. Over all, I would recommend this hotel for a quick, relatively luxurious stay in NOLA.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Astor. We agree, our location is one of the best in the city. We were delighted to hear that you found our rooms spacious and luxurious, sorry about the bed though...believe it or not, they are standard size mattresses! We appreciate your comments and we hope you will return back to the Astor on your next trip to the Big Easy!
