We stayed at this hotel for a couple nights during the Sugar Bowl. The hotel is within walking distance of Bourbon, the Superdome and Jackson Square. However, it is a considerable walk. Easy for me to do, but my companion wasn't thrilled. There are taxis and also the streetcar if you'd rather. The walk is approx 1-1.5 miles. I enjoy walking New Orleans though. Front desk staff was friendly and very accomadating. They granted us a late check out due to us having an evening flight and also stowed our luggage once we did check out so that we could enjoy the city before leaving for the airport. Very large lobby and breakfast area with a huge flat screen tv and a fireplace. Lots of couches, chairs and high top tables. All very stylish. The lobby bath even has a tv screen in the mirror. Our room was on the third floor, not far from the elevator. It was VERY spacious and offered a large flat screen, sink, refrigerator and microwave. Although open, it was almost like 3 little rooms. There was a nice desk w/ chair, coffee table and couch in the entry area along with the kitchenette. Our room overlooked a large courtyard with chairs & umbrella'd tables. The hotel also has a lovely courtyard with a pool. The room was bright and fresh, decorated in white, blue and green. It was very modern, hip and refreshing. Good water pressure in shower and the bath was pretty standard. Sink seperate from bath and commode. We had no issues with our stay and would certainly return to this location. This hotel makes me excited to stay with Springhill Suites in other areas as I had never stayed in that division of Marriott before. This location did have a parking garage but we did not have a vehicle. It is on a quiet street but there is dining and bars nearby with the Howling Wolf being directly across the street also. Decent tacos and TERRIFIC fresh made salsa and homemade chips. Convention Center is very close and also the Riverwalk shopping is just a couple short blocks. The Riverwalk has a large food court with pizza, Steak Escape and many local food offerings. Also, frozen alcoholic drinks. Many souvenir shops and a few chain stores such as Gap, Nine West, Lids etc.
