“This is now Hotel MODERN, not Hotel Le Cirque. Great for pets. Awesome check-in.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Tried to make this review for Hotel Modern but tripadvisor didn't have it in the system yet i guess.
3 nights for MLK weekend. We visit New Orleans frequently and love to try different hotels.
2 adults. 1 dog. We paid about $105 and probably wouldn't pay much more at all.

Pros: Best check-in experience we have ever had. So relaxed in the lobby area. Ambiance. Candles. Music. Free glass of wine. Friendly staff. Room very clean but of course everything was new, new carpet, new paint, new decor. Great bed linens and comforter. Scarlet the mascot (parrot?) was cool. Everything nonsmoking, excellent. View of Lee Circle nice. Walkable to French Quarter and Magazine St. Smallish grassy area at front of hotel for walking your pet (please pick up after your pet folks)
Cons:
1) No parking so you have to investigate nearby lots. We found one behind the hotel for $18 and prepaid for 2 nights but when we checked on the machine for day 3 there was a sign that all vehicles had to be vacated on day 2 for MLK holiday? Hotel Staff working at that time were of no help in suggestions for alternative lots. So my husband had to walk around and find a place close enough. Driving a new sports car we wanted to be able to check on our vehicle and having it close was important. Found a lot by the WWII museum that worked out well. But spent 45 minutes trying to resolve all of this situation. My car has GPS/Sirius Travel Link and it helped a lot!

2) Street car noise, while charming gets very old while trying to sleep. For some reason we could hear a ton of emergency vehicles all night every night. I slept with earplugs but my husband tossed and turned. This also meant we had to cover our dogs ears so she would not make a noise when the sirens went by.

3) The shower would not drain. 30 seconds after running the water you were showering in 1.5 inches or more of water. Gross. (reported to the front desk upon checking out to fix for the next guests)

4) Night 3 the air conditioning stopped working and by 6:30 we got up and left because it was too warm to sleep (reported to the front desk upon checking out to fix for the next guests)

5) Their website said coffee maker in room, but there was none. :-(

6) Could find no menu for the restaurant and no way i guess to order carryout.

7) Ice machines, ice bucket, vending machine? We found none of these. Had to buy large cups of ice from the convenience store around Lee Circle.

*note: there is a small refrigerator in the room but it is filled with over priced honor bar stuff. We were lucky to squeeze a bottle of soda in there from the convenience store.
**we found the air in the room to be so dry that we both woke up coughing all night and the next days our lips were peeling and dry.
***our room on the 8th floor was above the red hotel sign...so after night one we realized and turned the blinds the other way...this eliminated 80% of the light....the night before was crazy bright...you could read a book the light was so bright. But i was very close to buying eye sleep mask from walgreens for the remainder of the stay.
****final note: we booked this on Hotels.com to save money, our first time to use hotels.com and it worked out perfect. No worries.

Room Tip: If a light sleeper, get a room on the back side but still know you may hear emergency vehicles.

“READ THE REVIEWS, PEOPLE!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

Let me first began by saying..the first step I took was to read every review I could find on the internet about this particular hotel. Because I booked our flight during a hotel wkend, we were pretty much screwed which hotel we had a choice to stay. I was fortunate enough to book 4 of our 8 nites at Harrahs'. However, the other 4 nites scared me. I reluctantly booked our other 4 nites at Hotel Le' Cirque. Let me tell you...we couldn't have been happier. Apparently we were fortunate to get a room (BTW, using the previous reviews, we were smart enough to ask for a renovated room! Smart move) that was new all the way around!! New furniture, flat screen, fully tiled bathroom. The room was relatively small, but considering there were only two of us (and we didn't need it for a pit stop)...hello...how much room do you really need? It was very comfortable and guess what???? We were so impressed, we cancelled our other 4 nites at Harrahs and spent our entire 8 nites at Hotel Le' Cirque. The trolley stop is a half block from the hotel front and it wasn't scary walking at nite down St. Charles St. to the other quaint resturants (Delmonico's (yes, Emerils) E's, VooDoo BBQ, Sushi Brothers) or if you want, the trolley stops in front of all these resturants. The staff is wonderful (Magna, DJ, Melissa, Jennifer), but for the 5 star hotel clerk...you need to request REBECCA..absolutely, no better! Resturant and bar were still under remodel, but we still drank, got drunk and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! If ever in this town again...this will always be our 'go to' hotel!!!! BTW..we stayed 11/10/11 - 11/17/11, 6th floor.

“En Route Via NOLA”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

It was a Saturday night in October when I staid only 1 night at Hotel Le Cirque en route to a Caribbean Cruise the next day. It’s a boutique style hotel in the Warehouse District of New Orleans; it is a healthy walk to the cruise Port. We walked it with our luggage and took about 15 minutes; we had the time and wanted to save on the cab ride. It is located just out side of the hustle and bustle of the French Quatre which I particularly like and 1 trolley ride into the downtown core. This hotel is currently refurbishing its lobby, courtyard and rooms. Unfortunately nothing was noted on the site or mentioned when I called prior to arrival that the hotel was under construction however the reception staff went out of there way to over compensate for the make shift lobby and inconvenience. This hotel is located on a round-about on St. Charles Street, it's an intimate spot away from the crowds so would recommend for families with small children, business travel, couples and weekend get-a ways with friends. There are 10 floors with many rooms on each floor. The rooms have a simple contemporary decor and offer 1 king or double bed. My room had a clear view of monument of Colonel Robert E.Lee in Lee Circle and the trolleys that pass by. I didn't find it noisy, more on the quieter side of town, or wasn't bothered by the lights that light up the front of the hotel. Once the dark drapes are closed you won't know that you are New Orleans

We had two rooms one was an older rooms on the 7th floor where I staid and the newer renovated rooms on the 5th floor where my friends staid. Each room had comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms, and basic amenities. The furniture more contemporary than the older rooms. I am lead to believe that the rooms are slightly larger than some of the Brand name hotels in the French Quatre.
I would definitely go back just to see how Le Cirque looks after the reservations. It's a good location for groups travelling out of the New Orleans cruise port. It's walking distance to the Louisiana's Civil War Museum and The National World War II Museum. Also a good location if you're looking for a reasonable rate, the hotel is driving distance to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome as it's right by the US Route 90.
The Door Man and hotel Manager recommended some great spots to eat, we tried them and were pleasantly impressed with both of their suggestions.

The Front Desk Staff were very hospitable with all the guest. A great retreat to come back to from the excitement of streets of NOLA.

Room Tip: The 7th floor had not been renovated yet in Oct however the 5th level was. Ask for a street view of...

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Le Cirque offers a great location right on Lee Circle... the streetcars pass directly in front headed either uptown or to the Quarter. Its also easy walking distance to two museums (DDay and Confederate History) as well as great eats (Cochon Butcher and Deanies).

I was there for Tulane Homecoming and the city was booked. I read reviews of the hotel which indicated the rooms while nice were small. I disagree, there was plenty of room, and while not spacious, was what was needed and not tight or cramped.

They were in the process of rennovating the lobby and other areas and the reopened hotel promises to be even better.

“OMG”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I was in New Orleans for a meeting and had no choice over my selection of hotels. If you have to stay at this hotel DO NOT GET A ROOM FACING LEE SQUARE. The flashing lights on the front of the Hotel go on ALL NIGHT. The curtains do not fit propertly and there is no black out shade. Room was SMALL and tight to move around in. Lighting is the other issue, not enough.
Great location if you are working or visiting in the Lee Circle area. Others in our party had a nicer room on the higher floors. Wish I would have taken pics to show the difference. The hotel was under renovation the fire alarm went off the next morning at 8 am when we were trying to pack and leave. Yes you had to exit the building and wait for the all clear.

Room Tip: DO NOT GET A ROOM FACING LEE SQUARE. The flashing lights on the front of the Hotel go on ALL NIGHT.
