We stayed at the American Creole House October - December, 2005 after Katrina. My company rented all three suites for our restoration crews. The hotel a very minor damage after the storm and the owner flew in three weeks later and was able to get electricity and water on very quickly. By the time we moved in October 5th, the Internet and phones were up and running. The suites all have kitchens and kitchenettes and are well decorated and maintained. The property is considered "Corporate Suites" but they provide daily maid service (Thanks Rosalind!) and operate like a hotel. Check in is in the Travel Agency below the suites. The location on St. Charles Avenue is excellent and is near quite a few restaurants and shopping. The French Quarter is 11 blocks away and the Convention Center is 5 blocks. f you want New Orleans charm, reasonable rates and a great location, the American Creole House is a great choice.
