“Hotel Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My stay at the Wyndham Garden Baronne Plaza was disappointing first of all because the agent that booked my hotel was not truthful.. He told me that I could get shuttle service back and forth from the hotel to the convention center and that was not true. Then I wasnt aware that I would have to pay $20.00 per day for parking and the room service was not very good. From the look of the bed sheets they looked as if someone had slept on them and were not changed. I spoke to the desk about this, took pictures of the bed where the spread was pulled over sheets that were crumpled and down in the middle of the bed. Common sense should be to pull the sheet up then pull the spread up to make the bed. I will never stay there again.

Dear signifyingcat,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your most recent stay with us. We apologize if you were not fully satisfied with your stay with us. Would you be so kind to state your exact reservation dates and the name the reservation was under? We would like to research this issue further with our housekeeping department so any information you provide would be most helpful. Concerning shuttle service to and from the convention center, the hotel - as well as other hotels in the downtown vincinity - does not provide this transporation method. As for hotel parking, all rates are stated so on our website. In the event a guest would like to park elsewhere, we would be more than happy to recommend other parking options nearby.

We will forward your comments to our management staff and hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you in the near future. Please contact us at (504) 522-0083 if there is anything else we can do to win back you business!

“Nice Hotel, Good Spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Stayed here on a SWAir special fare and hotel. I was surprised how close it was to Bourbon Street (1 block from Canal St, another block to Bourbon). It is the site of one of 6 hotels built in New Orleans during the 1930's and was a Sears Department Store before converting to a Hotel. Just across the street is one of the oldest churches (Jesuit) in downtown. The hotel is surrounded by tall commercial buildings with no dark alleys to Canal St. People/Staff are helpful, friendly, and try to please. The price is very attractive for the location.

The hotel rooms are interesting because they are inside the building, with windows viewing the inside not the outside. If you open up the window curtains, you will see the windows of other rooms on several floors. The rooms are well appointed, with flat panel TV's and a soft bed. Free USA Today's are available at the front desk. The restaurant is a sushi restaurant that was reasonably priced. For the price, the hotel is a good value.

My negatives start with hot water. It took over 4 minutes at full throttle to get hot water both in the tub and sink. I called the front desk, who were very accommodating and understanding, and they gave me the choice to move or wait for maintenance to fix it. I waited, but it still did not work. No blame, just what happens when you have a room without many people on the floor getting up early. Also, the door did not close tightly, so I have to make sure the door was totally closed and locked before I locked it. I was awoken twice in the middle of the night (1am & 3am) as people coming back from festivities were banging on their doors to be let in for bed. Then they would turn on the TV loudly.. so you can hear neighbors two rooms down. I would stay again, but maybe request a room away from traffic.

I read the other reviews and I agree with the positives.

“Our new favorite place to stay in NOLA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

My family and my brother in law's family stayed here for a weekend in January. We loved it.Check-in was a breeze. We even requested a late check-out the next day, and were given one. We had a full suite. We fit two couples with our small children very comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious. The rooms as well as the lobby were clean and well decorated,What makes this hotel the best is the LOCATION! You are a less than 5 minute walk from Canal Street which has shopping, restaurants and the streetcar. You are close to the action but far away enough from the noise. We always felt very safe. We even were close enough to walk to the Superdome. This will be our new go-to hotel!!!

“I'd stay there again!!”

We spent 6 nights at the hotel and I can only have good things to say. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The noise level was nil. The front desk was wonderful and very helpful. Location was perfect - close enough but not too close. We could walk everywhere.
Only complaint - we never were able to get a newspaper until the morning we left. This one we picked up at 5:45 AM. I look forward to visiting this property again.

“good location but no windows in room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This hotel is outside the French Quarter - just a few blocks walk through busy safe streets to get over there. This was my first visit to New Orleans and at first I wanted to book a hotel in the French Quarter near Bourbon Street - but I am VERY glad I did not. Bourbon Street is loud!!
This hotel is large and clean and the front desk staff were VERY nice and accomodating. They were helpful friendly and patient every time we asked for recommendations, directions or even just help with something. The cleaning staff were also helpful and accomodating - this was a girls weekend and 3 girls shared a suite so we asked for extra bedding for the pull out sofa, extra towels, etc and it was never an issue and very prompt.

Like I said in the title, we had an indoor room which only looked in to the interior of the hotel. The window was in to the hallway. I tend to like natural light but other than that it was also too easy to sleep late (after a late night out...) with no light for us to realize it was daytime! But that was the only issue. The room was spacious enough and the bathroom was huge!! (good for 3 girls!). The pull out bed was not that comfortable.. very firm.. but the regular beds were quite nice.

Downstairs was a little coffee/bakery place and a sushi restaurant. We didn't take advantage of either but nice to know it was there.

I would stay here again. The price was also very reasonable!!

Room Tip: You need to request an outside room if you want a window. Getting a suite was more important to us s...
