Spent two nights at Noni's while researching my next book and fell in love with the decor, the food, the bed, the location, the ambiance, and the owner. Noni is the perfect blend of attentive hostess and laid-back indulgent relative. I'm pretty sure I was related to her in another life 'cause I felt like I'd always known her from the minute I walked in her kitchen. She is such an artist - from the beautiful food presentation on really interesting colorful serving pieces to the furnishings which manage to be classy/elegant and funky/bohemian all at the same time. I loved the music (thanks, Chris), the courtyard and resident turtles, the spotlessly clean bathroom, the stories, the mints by the bed, the books, the quiet and friendly neighbor, the marvelous portrait of Rooster who'm I'd love to have known, and the view of the park from my window in the dormer room. Here's how perfect everything was: the cats didn't even bother my allergies and cats ALWAYS bother my allergies; I still haven't figured that one out. I hate to rave about a place because I know I'll have trouble getting a room next trip, but this is one secret I'm willing to share. I'd hate for anyone to miss out on a treat like this. Do yourself a favor and book a room at Noni's on your next trip to NOLA. You'll be writing a rave review, too.
