“Pleasant stay with nice people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

My husband and I finished up our honeymoon by spending New Year's weekend in New Orleans. We were delighted to stay at the Rose Manor Inn! The hosts, Ruby and Pete, were gracious and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable, as was the entire B&B. Breakfast was home-cooked and pleasant (although nothing extraordinary--just waffles, cereal, eggs, bacon, juice, etc.), especially because we ate at the big dining-room table with other guests, including a couple from Britain and another from Italy! It was nice to get to meet people from across the U.S. and the globe.
The price was excellent, as well. However, this good price is partly because Rose Manor Inn is located about 15 or 20 minutes driving distance from the French Quarter and the Garden District (traffic was hectic when we were in New Orleans for New Year's, so keep that in mind when choosing a B&B that is located further from the main points of interest). Rose Manor is also not one of the historic B&Bs of New Orleans (which can be very pricey). The B&B's location isn't very pretty (lots of commercial businesses and construction surround it), but it is fairly convenient, considering there are a number of good restaurants, bars, and stores right next to the B&B. So, if you don't mind a non-historic, more commercial location, and a short although possibly hectic drive to the French Quarter and Garden District, then Rose Manor Inn is a good deal!

My husband, "tween" son & I stayed here with 3 other families while attending a sailing event at Southern Yacht Club, which is only 5 minutes away. The rooms are very clean & comfortable and the public areas were perfect for gathering together at the end of the day. Breakfast was good and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. We would definately stay here again.

Refurbished and very clean, Rose Manor is owned most enjoyable hosts, Ruby and Peter who are New Orleans aficionados with worldwide roots. Great location near the lake and several good restaurants. Used it as a base to explore the real New Orleans away from the mad rush of the French Quarter. Highly recommend for an affordable retreat with easy access to the "Big Easy"

“great homelike hotel”

I went to New Orleans with my girlfriend for a weekend trip. We really enjoyed the time in Rose Manor. Ruby (owner of the house) and her husband are great hosts and we learned a lot from them about the local area. Ruby is originally from HK and she speaks fluent Mandarin, English and Cantonese. We felt we are back home to China every time we talked with her.

The house has a unique interior design with some special collections of valuable antique pieces, very large living space with TV, desktop computer, printer… They also serve delicious homemade breakfast. We will definitely choose to stay here if we visit New Orleans again.

“Some great Southern Hospitality”

This was the first bed and breakfast I had ever stayed in when I was there last week. I was using the week of Thanksgiving as a chance to take a few days off while my friend was in town interviewing for a job with a local educational institution.

The innkeepers, Ruby and Peter Verhoeven, are such great hosts. They offered advice for a variety of topics, such as sightseeing, food and traversing New Orleans. Even their daughter-in-law, Anne, offered great advice.

The manor is down the street from Lake Pontchartrain, where you can enjoy one of the restaurants along the lake or stroll the lakefront.

They offered a great breakfast each of the two days I stayed. The selections are bacon, eggs and toast or a Belgian waffle. Other dishes are offered, including bear claws, muffins, fruits and cereals. We were well taken care of and had many of the posh care you would receive at any 4 star hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for Room 9 if you are traveling as a couple. Has a great King bed on the Manor's second flo...
