“Hated It; Total Rip-Off”

I stayed at the Lagniappe for 4 days and it was one of the worst experiences I've had on a trip. I called the day before because I was flying in early and needed to check in earlier than the 3-7pm window. The owner assured me that it wouldn't be a problem and I should call from the airport. When I called from the airport, at about 11am, the owner wasn't there and I was told to just come anyway. When I got there, she wasn't there and her assistant told me she'd be there in "a couple of hours" and maybe I should "go and get something to eat"!!! I did finally check in after 3pm.

The so-called breakfast on one morning consisted of overripe strawberries, orange slices and donut holes still in the box. I had breakfast with another couple who were also upset about the breakfast. The rooms were dusty and when I told the owner that I was having problems getting in with my room key, she told me that the building was old so I would have to be patient. The front door had a deadbolt look so you needed a key to get in and out. I couldn't wait to leave. I'll never stay there again and I advise you not to either.

“Home away from home!”

My honey and I stayed at Lagniappe's for an extended weekend and we loved it! What a wonderful place! Miss. Teresa and Miss. Helen were so warm and welcoming that I felt as if we were staying with family - upon our arrival we were greeted with open arms!! The house is beautiful and well kept. We stayed in the Josephine Baker room and it was fabulous!! Miss Teresa greeted us every morning with a delicious home-made breakfast and hot New Orleans style coffee - she made sure to ask us our dietary preferences upon our arrival.
Lagniappe's is in a great location, just blocks from the St. Charles trolley line and within walking distance of Magazine Street. We had driven 10 hours to New Orleans and did not have to get back into the car until we left to go back home -thank goodness.
We would like to go back to New Orleans in the fall and will definitely stay at Lagniappe's again!!
