“The Spirit of the Chimes!”

A neighborhood feel with world class hospitality welcomes you to the vibrant personality of New Orleans. We were introduced to this special place by our friends from Europe who have returned to the Chimes for Jazz Fest for a number of years. We joined them in 2011 to experience the music together, and explore the rich culture of New Orleans. Jill, who is one of the owners of the B&B greeted us like we were old friends visiting for Sunday Dinner. There was an absence of turkey aromas, but there are Chimes just beyond the entrance to the courtyard. Our room was well equipped with all the amenities down to the candy jar, which was a nice touch. It was immaculate with interesting decor that welcomed the sun in the morning, highlighting the interesting accents of the room. While we might have missed the turkey, the Breakfast certainly did not dissapoint. The smell of local coffee brewing in the kitchen invited our attention along with the varied and plentiful breakfast selections arranged on a beautifully large dining table. Seated were several of the guests, representing a small league of nations. They welcomed us like family as Jill continued to facilitate interesting and lively discussion that took us to many places. The whole experience was great!

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room in the house....

“A Real Gem”

Firstly, Jill and Charles are great hosts. The Chimes offers a real personal touch that you will never experience in faceless hotel chains. There are only five rooms so if you are lucky enough to get in I am sure you will feel right at home on arrival. Jill and Charles are keen to ensure that you get the best out of your say and are always on hand to help point you in the direction of the best tours, restaurants and even fishing experiences. The breakfasts are leisurely as conversation flows with tales of peoples travels as well as current affairs. You may also find Marmite at the table (in the love it camp!) It is a great location to walk the city or take the street car, not to mention that it is very close to many great restaurants. If we ever travel the pond in that direction again, we would be sure to stay at The Chimes.

“Great start to the New Year!!!”

All I can say is WOW! My wife and I wanted to start the new year off right. We decide that we would get away and try to relax. before getting back to our daily grind. I chose Chimes because of reviews that I read, and it was a really easy decision, after having Jill help with a reservation that I was trying to make on line. I knew that the owner was a special person, just by speaking over the phone, I immediately felt that I was important. From the conversation around the breakfast table to the attention of every detail, this is a special destination, run by special people. I hope that more people get the opportunity, to feel how we left there feeling. We have already booked our next visit in April. Thanks Jill.

“Luxurious linens”

I'm fussy about where I sleep, and the Chimes bed was a perfect combination of deluxe comfort and peace and quiet. The little courtyard had a lovely Chinese sculpture that I did a drawing of one morning before heading the three blocks to Magazine Street, a major artery in Nola for shopping and eating. Our hosts were generous with help and delicious breakfasts. It all went by too fast. And when I forgot my favorite jade earrings, Jill mailed them back. She also recommended an eco bayou trip that was really unforgettable. We walked and took buses most of the time, and even found out about 2 parades by visiting the Backstreet Cultural Museum in Treme. Why haven't we done more to help Nola?

You did help New Orleans by spending your travel dollars at a privately owned bed and breakfast, eating in local restaurants and shopping on Magazine Street. Your art makes the world a happier place. Thank you!
