I was part of a large group that stayed at the Dauphine Orleans over a long weekend in early February. The hotel is in a very nice location, within walking distance of restaurants like Acme Oyster House, Eat, Jagerhaus, Oceana Grill, Desire Oyster Bar, and Deanie's. One short block and you're on Bourbon (but you don't hear the noise) and one more to Royal. The staff was very friendly and helpful, often offering their assistance even before you could ask. The rooms are fairly small (main building), but clean. Our room faced the parking garage, so there wasn't much to look at from our balcony. The memory foam mattress was very comfortable. The bar (May Bailey's) makes for a nice meeting place and the bartender, Sarah, does her job well. The breakfast was more than continental but not a full spread (waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereals, fruit, yogurt, bagels, etc.). The breakfast area opens at 6:30 AM on weekdays and 7:00 AM on weekends, so early risers like me don't have to wait for that first cup of coffee (however, there is a cup-at-a-time coffeemaker in the room). I was expecting the hotel to be a bit more upscale. There are improvements they could make in the way of general maintenance that would give the place more appeal, but it was still an enjoyable small hotel experience.
