Spent a total of 13 nights at the Dauphine, pre and post cruise with NCL. Most staff were excellent, friendly, and willling to stop for a quick chat. Had some small issues with our room and both were attended to quickly. We spent our pre cruise nights in a balcony room over Dauphine Street...too noisy most nights for my liking but our pre teens slept through the bar crowds heading home. The weather was also a bit lower than average some day so to sit on the balcony required a blanket. Nothing special about the continental breakfast, waffles, hard boiled eggs, sausage, breads and pastries, fresh fruit, cold cereals, yogurt, juices and coffee/tea/hot chocolate. Almost no variety in the choice of fruits or pastries over the 10 days we initially spent. The rooms were clean, quiet in terms of hotel noise, but unfortunately the balcony doors do not keep out the street noise very well. Regular room amenities...coffee, free wi-fi, refrigerator (in the balcony room), robes, hairdryer, soaps and shampoos (no body/hand lotion). The beds were very comforable! We found the location great, close to everything we needed. The most disappointing part of our stay was THE POOL IS NOT HEATED as advertised!
While in NOLA we rode the trollery cars to uptown/garden district as well as to City Park for Celebration in the Oaks (ok, was expecting more spectacular), made a visit to the zoo (excellent), the aquarium (interesting), the insectarium (very educational), took a plantation/airboat tour (well worth the money), managed to see the Saints at the Superdome (wow, but not impressed with the fan who blew his noise maker in front of us and wouldn't stay seated), ate at many great restaurants and heard alot of great music! I would definitely go back again.
Room Tip: Balcony rooms not recommended for light sleepers!
