“Do Not Miss St. Louis Cathedral!”
The Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis King of France is the oldest Catholic cathedral in continual use in the United States, Usually referred to as "The St. Louis Cathedral", it is one of New Orleans' most notable landmarks. The greatest moment in the history of the St. Louis Cathedral was the visit of Pope John Paul II in September, 1987.
The cathedral is absolutely gorgeous! Please make sure that you include it on your "to do" list when visiting the Cresent City. The church is right on Jackson Square, which is an area with alot of happenings - street performers, artists, fortune tellers, etc.
But when you enter the Cathedral, no matter what your faith, you will be overwhelmed by its massiveness and beauty, and the solemn presence within! Even with all the hustle and bustle going on outside....
Tour the church and take pictures, and if you'd like, kneel down and say a prayer or light a candle for a special intention.
The best part is that it won't cost you a penny! But a donation to the church would be nice...
