Hard to find. Even though it is right across the street from the Capitol building, the building is not that easy to find. We circled the street a few times before we saw the sign. Also, our delivery driver could not find it either.

I would recommend requesting a room with a view of the Capitol. We had a view of other buildings, so we kept the curtains closed for our stay. A view of the Capitol would be beautiful!

We checked in on a Saturday night. Although we couldn't find the hotel very easily because of the small sign, we were relieved when we could pull right into the parking structure and have our car parked for us. It is valet parking over, and free for overnight guests (plus any tip for the valet). The valets were very organized and have a list of the day's guests so you can go right in with your things and check in without having to worry about parking and hauling your things. The check in process is okay. The lady at the front desk was a little demanding. I had reserved the room through Expedia and she required all of our information a second time and wasn't very friendly throughout the process. I wouldn't bother going through Expedia again with this hotel. We reserved a room with 2 queen beds, and our room was much larger than we expected. Very roomy with a couch, fridge, desk & extra chair for watching tv. When we arrived, our room was 55 degrees and took a long time to warm up because they hadn't turned the heat on. I think that our shower was missing the liner, but we were able to make do. We had 3 guests so we were going to use the pull out sofa. It wasn't made up & had some crumbs on it, so if you are going to use this feature, you should let them know ahead of time, and then remind them before you check-in.

While we were staying here, there was an event going on. We weren't disturbed at all by the visitors and our stay was still quiet.

There is a restaurant in the hotel that we had breakfast at. The service there was good and we would recommend the breakfast.

Keep in mind that if you are planning on sight seeing with your own car, you will have to go through the valet each time. Some may like this, but others not. Luckily, the hotel is close to State Street (a lot of shops & dining) which is in walking distance.

Upon checkout, we had the same lady that we had to check-in. We were confused about what she needed from us on check out, and she was really not helpful. We just waited there until we figured out that she didn't need anything else, very weird experience.

Overall, this hotel is an okay value. If you are willing to spend $20-30 more, there is a nicer hotel in the square that makes more of an effort to make your stay more comfortable.

A former co-worker arranged for us to have a conference at this hotel. What a disappointment. The decor is 70's mish mosh, the smell is musty, the customer service is mediocre. They were ok. I don't think they realize how shabby they are. The location is very good - across from the capital and walking distance to many restaurants and shops but the hotel was not quaint or charming.

The basement banquet rooms are very dreary, better to go up to 2nd floor. They couldn't handle the AV. The sound from the adjoining session came into our room.
The food was plainer than grocery stores, no decor or layout effort. Just the trays and supplies put on a table in random order.

No place for dirty items - only a bathroom size trash can in front of the coffee.

One of the pitchers of juice was leaking and the table was wet but the sales manager didn't think it was a problem.

No water provided. Only got a couple plastic dollar store pitchers are several reminders.

Lunch - cold cuts, plain sliced bread,- the veggie tray was pepper slices, pickles and other condiments....veggie tray? Fruit was good and that was the only dessert.

The layout again was random. the girl helping said Oops it should have been bread first,......

Really embarrassing.

Everyone was polite and tried - they just didn't realize what the competition does.

We spent 4 nights at the hotel and we had a wonderful experience! We were on the 8th floor, had AMAZING views of downtown. The room was large, comfy, extremely clean and well decorated/furnished! I would recommend this hotel as the place to stay! The staff went above and beyond to make us happy. Overall, this hotel really made our visit to this city!

We bought nonrefundable tickets through the company's website. My grandpa was in bad health, but was stable at this time.

Unfortunately for my family his condition took a turn for the worse and it was clear he only had a few weeks left. At this time I contacted the hotel and stayed in continual contact with the manager (Alice). It became clear about 5 days before our trip that my grandpa would likely pass soon and I wanted to spend what might be his last weekend with him and my family. The company refused to offer us a full credit, and offered only a 50% credit toward a future stay.

I completely understand that these tickets are nonrefundable. I can't believe that they would not transfer 100% to another weekend. I don't know, say one in which a family member wasn't dying. It almost makes me sick that a company would treat someone that way. I had remained in continual contact with the manager and the reality of our situation was very apparent.

I thought this was supposed to be more of a family company. If even one person does not stay at this hotel because of this review, it will be more than worth it. I certainly have many family and friends who would never consider staying there - they were absolutely callous!

Great location across from the State House, but this hotel is in great need of a full-fledged renovation....room furnishings were very dated and dreary...the bathroom was tiny and oddly, the sink was IN the bedroom which affords little privacy and is also messy. The lobby has no real public space for gathering and is also equally tired--looking and decades overdue for re-decorating...Overall, this hotel needs a lot of TLC. And at these prices, I expected a lot more in the way of decor and amenities. I have stayed in roadside hotels with nicer appeal...In fact, the maid refused to make up a pull-out sofa when asked and instead left us with a plastic bag filled with linens for us to do it ourselves. Quite disappointing overall...
